Ahhh you been hit with the teeter totter effect.

Easiest and fastest way to get all 4 wheels off a car.

Sorry man, did you have any locks on your wheels? Or wheel lug locks?

To be named later 09-28-2008 11:46 AM

Oh shit....sons of bitches!

That brick/boulder shit is messed up.

Yeah, steal the wheels and tires but don't screw up the body.

Sorry to hear about that.....hope the insurance treats you well.

I had wheel locks on all 4 wheels. I have no idea how they got them off. Insurance is not treating me well so far... because I "didn't report I added aftermarket parts, those items may not be covered by your insurance policy which only covers what is on a factory car at the time of purchase." They have to "investigate".

XlYesterdaYlX 09-28-2008 11:52 AM

wow what a bunch of assholes.

meskism 09-28-2008 11:54 AM

That is some bullshit!!!! That is why I refuse to do anything to my RX til I get my garage!

Jeez, that sucks man.

You would think if you put lug locks, you're somewhat safe. The autolock thing people put on their wheel that wraps around the whole wheel is not safe as well.

Basically if a thief wants your car/wheels, they will take it one way or another.

Thats why i dont think i can ever park my FD outside ever. I dont even take it to the track anymore because im paranoid to leave it in the parking lot. Its not worth it.

I dont know how you guys do it.

mysql 09-28-2008 11:59 AM

i have the shock sensor on my car. the alarm would have gone off the moment they started jacking up the car unless they did it really slowly.

newguy 09-28-2008 12:08 PM

you should have just told your ins co they stole my stock wheels theyre probably charging as much for those as your aftermarket rims or more. wow sorry to see that it makes me cringe:(

Davey's RX-8 09-28-2008 12:08 PM

Reality is, you have to have coverage for aftermarket parts on your car or your company isn't responsible for the additional cost of replacing them if something happens. That'a not them being pricks, its the insurance contract.

In any event, I hope you find and castrate the bastards.

ShellDude 09-28-2008 12:46 PM

Mind sharing general vicinity where you're from?

I swapped my lock lugs for regular ones a couple weeks back because I didn't get the key with my car. It's stuff like this that I used to rationalize not ordering the key.

miztic 09-28-2008 01:47 PM

whats next, having to chain your wheels up like a motorcycle after you park?
that sucks, awesome looking wheels, sorry m8 :(
I thought wheel locks would keep them safe, they did their job on my firebird when someone tried to steal the stock wheels, I guess the wheel locks only keep the non-pro's at bay :(

Ross_Dawg 09-28-2008 01:57 PM

wow thats so f***ed up... I can even imagine how pissed you are right now... sorry bro

WVBoosted8 09-28-2008 02:04 PM

Someone would have to die if I came out to my car and it was on rocks.

kvndoom 09-28-2008 02:29 PM

Oh my god the fuckers didn't even use cinder blocks. Yeah, somebody needs to die a horrible death for that kind of shit.

You really shoulda just said "stock wheels and tires" to your insurance. Some compensation is better than none at all.

Spinning Sushi 09-28-2008 02:34 PM

Shit man, that sucks. It's very easy to remove a wheel lock, all they do is get a socket that is bigger than the lock nut. Force it on with a hammer, and then turn.

04RX8man 09-28-2008 02:41 PM

yeah depending on the type of locks you had how easy it is to get them off that sucks but at lease they didnt' mess up any part of the car from the looks of it....i would b on the insurance company's ass trying to get at least the cost for new stock ones at least

blackenedwings 09-28-2008 02:41 PM

I'm in Columbia MD which is one of the yuppiest "safest" communities you can be in. I have lived in some straight up ghetto places with very nice cars and never ever had a problem before. I don't even really know what to do at this point. I had the police out and they basically said there is very little chance of catching the guys who did this. Insurance may cover it, but I don't even know how I'm supposed to take the car down off the !#%ing rocks its on. It's not like I can tow it anywhere right now.

Oh they completely crushed the left side of the car on the underside. The appearance package piece is shattered and hanging on by a thread and the edge is a mess. If they had just taken the wheels I would be pissed, but now I'm -really- pissed.

nelsoncs 09-28-2008 02:47 PM

I'm sorry this happened to you man. Just last week, some guy was trying to get the radar out of my car and I saw him and beat the living shit out of him. Then HE said he was gonna call the cops haha.

I hope everything gets resolved... and hopefully you find out who the fuckers were

Jedi54 09-28-2008 02:55 PM

omg, this sucks!!! sorry to hear this blackened. do you still have your stock wheels?

kersh4w 09-28-2008 03:03 PM

the stock wheels cost $499 new from a mazda dealership.

whatever aftermarkets you had, im pretty sure they cost less than that. the oem tires are at least $200/piece as well. so you're looking at ~$2800 adjusted for tire wear. i dont know, but im pretty sure that will cover you for wheels.

and of course they'll take care of the body as well.

total blower. goddamn assholes.

DarkLord7854 09-28-2008 03:09 PM

Dang man.. I've never heard of that happening till now o.o

Makes me scared for mine.. luckily at home it's always parked in an incline, so using rocks wouldn't work very well..

Still though.. that's really messed up.

HockeyRX-8 09-28-2008 03:15 PM

Damn man. Sorry about your car. It's amazing how f**ked up people are sometimes. Hope you get everything fixed soon.

EdwardsB 09-28-2008 03:22 PM

sorry about your car, I really hate people...maybe we should all over the next few days look for them on ebay?

think this got me to look at getting a shock sensor like mysql said.

Big Money Pit 09-28-2008 03:26 PM

fucking boils me over.

i'll tell you who it was. it was fucking methheads. they will steal anything they can get their hands on. that shit is RAMPANT here in east tennessee, even in the yuppie parts. (yes, east tennessee has yuppie parts)

about two months ago i was upstairs asleep in MY house, and i heard someone downstairs. well, i live alone, so that was clue #1 something was up. long story short, i ended up taking a sheetock knife to the back and shoulder of a methhead i caught running out my front door with a GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL i shit you not.

i cannot make that kind of shit up.

it was an unpleasant experience, going through all of that hassle with the stand your ground law here and whatnot, but seriously? it was 11:00 at night, my cars were parked out front, and the lights downstairs were on.

that stuff makes people fucking desperate.

Ever Hernandez 09-28-2008 03:56 PM

Awww, fawk...those *ssh*les... I feel your pain man. I've had my stuff stolen before, not on my 8 though.

blackenedwings 09-28-2008 04:01 PM

Well, I've still got my stock rims in my house... no tires to put on them of course, but I have them. I'll probably have to take the stock rims up to Mr. Tire and get some cheap tires put on so I can at least take the car off the goddamn rocks/bricks. Insurance is -going- to pay for the damage if I have to club them to do it, but it's still a $500 deductable which is money out of my pocket that I was going to put towards my turbo install next month. Now I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to do the install. I guess I'm just fortunate they didn't break the windows and steal anything else like the car itself. Hell, I still had my brand new turbo in the trunk.

Yea from this point forward, it may be a good idea to not leave anything of value in your car. I get nervous with my subs in my car.

Rotr8 09-28-2008 04:51 PM

Blackened that blow big time, Icant imagine how pissed off I would be if this happened to me,,,,

Rhawb 09-28-2008 05:57 PM

Fucking scum - Too lazy to get a job and get their shit in line, so they just steal the things other people worked hard to earn. Walking wastes of space. Hope you get your things back from these dirtbags. Bonus points if you get to seem them getting locked up for a few years.

YaXMaNGTO 09-28-2008 05:58 PM

You guys should see how easy it is to remove the wheel locks when you know what you're doing. Next time you're getting new tires at Discount or whatever, ask the guys how long it takes to remove them if the owner doesn't have the key.

Basically, your wheels are not safe because they have locks.

Sorry that happened. I'd be pissed out of my frickin' mind. It could have happened to any of us.

ShellDude 09-28-2008 06:05 PM

Here's how I took care of mine...

cornholio135 09-28-2008 06:40 PM

Another reason why I park mine in the garage... I know not everyone has a house with a garage, but most of the people in my neighborhood use their garage like a storage unit and park their cars in the driveway. That really sux dude.... F@CKING THEIVES. I cannot stand that sh1t... I know of at least 2 cases here where a vehicle owner :uzi: shot and killed someone for breakin in/trying to steal a vehicle... No charges filed....

newcastle 09-28-2008 06:43 PM

That sucks man! I highly recommend getting a shock sensor and lojack or equivalent, especially if you get that turbo installed. Of course you may want to consider going sleep style so you don't draw much attention....until you get a garage or something.

.

Yeah, regardless of what type of protection you have on ANY item. If a low down dirty piece of scum wants it they will eventually get it or die trying.

photo chick 09-28-2008 07:10 PM

:( this makes me sad for you.

hopefully you can sort this out with insurance.

karma will take it's toll.

Ah. I don't get it... what do those do for you? I've never seen them, but how difficult is it to find a half inch drive and remove them?

always.anthony 09-28-2008 07:24 PM

WOW that pisses me off. i feel for you man, had subs stolen from me :( just a broken window. but that even makes ME ANGRY! for you!

wheel locks just slow people down, for a prank i stole my friends rims and put them in his back yard, i put the car on LOTS of phone books, the wheel locks or w/e can be taken off if you are not retarded, you don't need the key, just find a wrench or anything to grab the wheel lock and apply rotational force, at an angle.

Allow me to clarify, as others have suggested, the image I provided is an example of how you can easily defeat the locking lug nuts. They're reverse threaded sockets that tighten down as you apply counter-clockwise (loosening) pressure and they come in a multitude of sizes to accomodate just about any type of pesky nut.

By "took care of mine" I meant that is how I removed my locking lug nuts because my car did not come with a key (mentioned in more detail a couple posts up).

User24 09-28-2008 08:02 PM

yeah yeah rx8 get stolen straight out of garage too, plenty of times. Plus once rx8 becomes $14,000, nobody gonna put $14K rx8 into $15K garage.

GPS, video camera, camping in rx8... nothing is foolproof.

Everything is either broken, in the process of breaking, or getting broken into. Keep rx8 long enough it is bound to happen. I just consider myself lucky and way past due for all that garbage to happen.

They say, when you go to sleep, everything you got you give back to the world. When you wake up in the morning, you get it all back again. Now we know, just check outside first to make sure your tires aren't gone before telling yourself you're in the clear.

"Stupid peoples stealing things" who are they anyway? You go outside, catch them in the process, and hope to beat up some thug, but it's just a bunch of young faced punks who got nothing to live for, no role models, no futures. "Why are you stealing my car? Let's talk about this" or maybe they just pull out a gun when you're trying to help them. That just about sum it up.

ShellDude 09-28-2008 08:06 PM

Arming your house's alarm at night in "stay" mode helps, especially if you have a sensor on your exterior garage door.

[K]Jae 09-28-2008 08:26 PM

Hope you find those a-holes

blackenedwings 09-28-2008 09:05 PM

Well the cop basically told me they have almost no chance of catching the people who did it. He said because the rims were so unique they "might" see them show up at one of the local flea markets, but thats best case scenario. My guess is that I'll never see those rims again. I can't express how upset I am, but on the other hand... its just my wheels, its not like they broke into my house and hurt my family or something. I'm trying to kind of take the whole thing in context, but its pretty rough. I've been really excited about all the work I've done on the car and seeing this happen just burns me.

Pretty much regardless of what the insurance does for me, I'm out a bunch of money. Thankfully my folks live in the area and have an extra car I can borrow to get to work. Walking past my ravaged Rx8 up on rocks to climb into a Toyota Corolla to go to work is not going to be much fun.

EdwardsB 09-28-2008 09:17 PM

^what brand are they ill check on ebay over the next few days?

its worth a shot, you never know how dumb they may be

lesper4 09-28-2008 09:21 PM

whether you have stock or after market wheels your innsurance co. should reimburse you for stock parts. our stock wheels and tires are a pretty penny!

YaXMaNGTO 09-28-2008 09:34 PM

No shit... I knew it could be done quickly, but I didn't know that's what they used.

Race Roots 09-28-2008 09:38 PM

I feel your pain.....this sucks. Let me know if I can help. I hate when stuff like this happens. I will give you cost on any wheels when it is time for you to buy. Let me know I would be more than willing to help. Even if it is 6-12 months down the road.

YaXMaNGTO 09-28-2008 10:04 PM

^^^ damn nice.

alz0rz 09-29-2008 01:59 AM

holy crap.. you said you had your turbo in the trunk? all they would have had to do was smash the window and pop the trunk and you would have been out ALOT more than the wheels/tires which are covered by insurance..

sucks though dude.. as someone else said.. karma will take it's toll.

Wind Dance 09-29-2008 04:46 AM

Damn.. sorry to hear.
