Wheel spin when shifting ?
I resent that this is always brought up. Most mechanics don't drive 40k+ cars. I've read stupid crap when it was year 2005. There are lots of stupid rich folks out there too. I researched this car for 6 years until I could afford one. And I like it more than my FD, take that 7club! lol
And to answer SNTP, 10 buck please...... USE THE SEARCH BUTTON! It's out there/
that was my first time typing that so I had to do it in caps.

To the OP, it sounds like your clutch may be worn. Spinning the wheels going into 2nd gear is pretty damn easy.
Either you are not giving it enough gas when shifting into 2nd or your clutch has a lower point in which it breaks traction than your tires; you usually either want that to be the other way around or ideally want both to hold strong so there is no wheelspin, just forward thrust.
Of course this isn't something you want practice on the street.

To answer the OP, yes it takes power....
My Rx8 can roast second and spin third on shifts I choose to show off. And thats with 255 BFG KDWs on it. But in a race situation you generally want as little wheelspin as possible.
And as someone else said..... in a powerful car this is ill advised. My previous car was a 660RWHP procharged vette. It could roll out of the tires in 4th no clutching needed. It took skill NOT to spin the tires on shifts. Put some guy that likes to show off behind the wheel of a car like that and he's guaranteed to lose it shifting to 2nd or 3rd. This is a major cause of accidents. Just do a search for "mustang crash" on youtube and you'll find countless videos of beefed up mustangs wrecking when pulling out onto a highway......usually ending up in oncoming traffic.

You must do no engine braking. One of the first things I notice is that it is super easy to chirp the tires with a quick downshift from 4th to 3rd. Much less around the red in first.
If you must destroy your tires go ahead and give it a shot.

This isnt about street racing. If most of you have experienced it, then im pretty sure people have wondered wtf happens when you chirp the tires.
To answer some of your questions, when i shift, i ease off the clutch at the same time give it gas. Its a smooth transition. But i do understand now that its due to giving it gas give while holding clutch and releasing it.
End of story. THanks for everyone who contributed with info. And isnt this why have forums. To ask questions and have discussions LOL. Correct me if im wrong.

I doubt my clutch is worn. I usually dont power shift in 2nd gear. Like i said i take it easy. I ease off my clutch while giving it gas. Its smooth.
There are way too many stupid, generic threads on here with stupid questions that can be found any place else. This is why people get flamed right away with people yelling at them to just perform a search. Because they are right, just search, it could've taken you a **** load less energy and time to just have used google. Just use common sense. You can't figure out how they can chirp and we can't? How come a mustang can burn out into 3rd gear stock but we can't? Why can a Lamborghini go 200mph and we can't? Hmm I guess I'll make a thread on those too. Use your head. End of story.
Thanks!

I could wheel spin in first 3 gear as long as I give it more revs than it should have for a specific gear in at a specific speed. There really is no point in doing it, too much wheel spin just means loss of traction, a little bit of wheel spin could mean maximum use of tire traction.

Ask any police officer out there, and actually I believe someone just posted up in a forum how they got a ticket for street racing for doing exactly what you did. It doesn't matter how fast you're going, it matters what it looks like. In a cops eyes just sitting there watching you take off up to the speed limit, chirping the tires, making noise, and right next to someone else, it looks like street racing. It's aggressive driving. End of story.
We have forums to educate the uneducated on SMART questions. You sir, asked a pretty f*cking stupid question. I'm sure if you punched into google right now "how to chirp tires" you would come up with a **** load of results to answer your stupid question. Oh hey look, just like I said How to chirp tires

Yea sorry I didn't search on google but I was asking more pertaining to the rx8. But I guess you're right dude.
As for stupid threads, I've seen people make threads such as "how to beat a _____". Sorry but ven that makes my thread seem like a smart question.

I can easily chirp my tires (245 RE-01R's) going full bore down a highway on-ramp, even on the 2-3 shift. All it takes is aggressive shifting where your right foot gets ahead of your left in terms of opposite modulation.
Also, wheelspin is (obviously) possible off the start without the high-RPM launch. Turning off DSC helps, of course.
I've driven RX-8s in the past when my wife worked at Mazda Corporate (MNOA) in Irvine, CA. Anyway, second gear wheelspin/scratches are easy in RX-8s. What's more impressive is that in my '02 MX-5 SE 6-speed, I get the most beautiful second gear scratches (with a nice pitch sideways) whenever and wherever I want.
Simple process: Start at dead stop or rolling up to halfway through first gear, gas it to the floor (here's the skill part), shift close to redline by "very quickly" shifting to second, and DO NOT let off on the gas. It will get you wheelspin in second gear. I used to get great second gear scratches in my first new car, an '81 VW Jetta with 74HP!!
