I don't know why we keep discussing this.

It's been repeated several times now that "Shinka" in Japanese literally translates as "Special Seats"

Quote: Over time limited edition will hold slightly more value. Slightly.
I don't think any of us can be 100% sure what the future holds, but we do know that the Shinka packages have lower resale value than the standard RX-8's right now.

One thing i can say is that when i bought my WB GT, there was a Black cherry Shinka the guy was trying to sell me also, difference of maybe 3-5 grand. I didnt like the interior, it loooked like trouble to me (being a light color cuz u never know what happens), i just liked the fact that it was black cherry and "shinka", if it would have been that all "shinkas" were turbo'd then it'd be super,

1. Because they would hold more value and can be considered truely "special"

2. Because we would all have a "bolt on" kit available from the factory. U know what im saying? ;-).

I know i would rather swap a factory turbo swap rather then posting a thread about which turbo kit i should get and etc. etc. and the turbo would be underwarranty incase anything blows "shinka"

Also!....Thats part of the reason i think that MAZDA didnt turbo some of the 8's because all the problems with the FD they would be seeing 8's at the service dept all the time MORE THAN THEY ALREADY DO. Sequential turbos would have been nice though, but then again i do hate the sound of a BOV so if i ever considered FI i would go supercharged. MAZDA cant say that they didnt have the space in the engine bay i mean cmon now, pop ur hood and the only thing u see is ur air box, battery, belts and an Alternator.

I have a brown belt in Judo. So I'm pretty sure my Japanese is up to date.

Quote: So I'm curious, if only 1,357 2005 Shinka's made it off the line, how many of those are 6spd manual? I was the only '05 Shinka in Maryland I knew about for a while, but then I actually saw another one in my office parking lot. I was absolutely floored. What are the chances?

844 manual transmission Shinkas

513 automatic transmission Shinkas

As far as the total build numbers... The only Shinkas to get the build numbers where the Black Cherry '05 models.

The '06 just came as an add on appearance package that you could get in a few different colors. They don't even have the same leather seats.

"Shinka" is originally an Okinawan word that literally means "great fun bubbles topped by big nips". Mazda used it as a way to generate excitement.

It worked on me very well.

There's more differences than color but nothing really in terms of performance. The Shinka suspension differences seem to be mostly in favor of a more 'luxurious' ride although some say it's also better performance. Here's a pretty good summary found through a quick Google search:

- Special bright finish wheels
- Bright-chrome head and tail light fixtures
- Parchment leather seats and more use of piano black accents
- Suspension cross member injected with foaming urethane
- Suspension tuning with thicker 14mm damper shafts (up from 12mm)
- Improved body rigidity through reinforcing the top-front portion of the A-pillars and improving the stability of the rear damper mounting points.

Thanks Robert,

let me ask you this then,

does it worth getting a shinka over a gt for $1500 more ?

I think that GT would do just fine but if i get enough yey's towards a shinka i will get it

The Shinka will give you bragging rights that you have *insert production number here*. Other than that, I can't really say I'd pick the Shinka over any other model.

Oh come on CyberPitz dont be jealous just bcuz u dont have one !

Well, I never drove another "regular"" Rx-8 so I dunno, but "according" to Mazda's paper, the Cross member with Foaming Urethane Suppose to be able to lower like 20% of the extra body roll, and a "tiny bit" bigger rear shaft suppose to help too.

Does it worth the extra 1500?

if u have the cash, go for it. if not, save it get a Civic.
