What are the odds of the Mazdaspeed????
I have a WRX right now with a far amount of work done to it. I am intersted in the RX8, but not enough to seel my car yet.
But if the mazdaspeed came out this all would change. What are the odds of the mazdaspeed RX8 coming to America? If not, will I be able to buy the entire kit seprately?
Also what color is the Mazdaspeed I keep seeing around all over the place? Is it silver or titanium?
Thanks
Drew

I too am waiting for the MazdaSpeed version. Totally speculating, I'm very confident a MazdaSpeed RX-8 will make it to the US as long as RX-8 sales are strong. Timeliness will depend on whether Mazda will release the RX-7 before the MazdaSpeed RX-8.
Currently the rumor for RX-7 release is anywhere from MY05 to MY07. Personally, I think it will be close to 2007 than 2005. If the RX-8 is released later this summer. It will take 6-12 months for Mazda to determine if the RX-8 is considered a sales success. Once the decision is made to build the RX-7, it will take another 6 months for the manufacturing plant to tool up for RX-7 production. All this is based on assumtions that all R&D will be complete for the RX-7 once production get started, which I don't think will be the case.
Mazda will be very conservative and will play it very safe to insure that any products that will come out of there design and development studios will be completely solid and well tested. There will also need to be a 6-12 month lag time between the release of the MS RX-8 and the RX-7 so that one release will not steal the thunder from the other release.
Given all that, engine choice will also determine when a MazdaSpeed RX-8 will start production. If the MazdaSpeed RX-8 will share a larger NA engine with the RX-7, then R&D time will be short. If Mazda decides to go with an FI solution for the 1.3L RENESIS engine, the R&D will be longer. Much longer consider Mazda's recent history with FI rotaries.
Bottomline, a MazdaSpeed RX-8 might not show until the last 2-3 years of the RX-8 production schedule which could be anywhere between 3-5 years from the release of the RX-8.

Thanks for all the input. this is going to sound really selfish but I want it know. I don't want to wait 3-5 years. I'll buy something else by then. I love my WRX and won't mind holding on to it for a while, but I'm thinking about resale value here.
I have a Bug-eyed WRX. And while I like they way it looks many people do not. Thats why the new one is coming this year, plus with the STI on its way My resale value has gone to ****.
The pics of the Mazdaspeed that are all over place, are they production pics of a car on sale in Japan right now, or just a concept car?
I would'nt mind takin the Mazdaspeed with the same power as the stock RX8 but with all the extra stuff on it.
Again thanks for the input.

I wouldn't expect a Mazdaspeed version any sooner than a year from now.
As far as "tooling", that shouldn't take too long, because it will probably be assembled on the same line as the RX8.

The MPS RX-8 probably won't be out for another 2-3 years, since Mazda, like any other car company, isn't going to release all its cars at once, so the next few years will probably look something like this:
2003: RX-8 launch
2004: Mazdaspeed Miata
2005: Mazdaspeed Mazda6
2006: Mazdaspeed RX-8
2007: new RX-7
2003: RX-8 launch
2004: Mazdaspeed Miata
2005: Mazdaspeed Mazda6
2006: Mazdaspeed RX-8
2007: new RX-7
