What is the "Normal" idle speed?

Please don't kill me for asking this... I did search. My 04 (manual) has no issues starting, but it does idle under 1000. I don't know if this is normal or not. After I could not find a related subject here, I looked for videos on youtube and everyone's cars seem to be running over 1000rpm idle. It does seem to get low. AC on does not affect my idle speed but does make the car shake. Im taking the car in for a tune up next week. I feel like its just not clean. Suggestions? Sorry Im such a noob. But any replies are appreciated. Thanks.

Also (im a new I know), is it just rotary engine nature to drop revs fast when you put car into neutral while driving? Other cars I have driven are not as quick to wind down.

Still getting used to driving/owning this car.

That's all normal.

What do you mean by "tune up"? How many miles are on your spark plugs, wires, and coils?

That is normal idle at about 850-900RPM and the AC on does cause some shaking. Doing a tune up may help. Make sure your MAF is clean, replace air filter, cabin air filter, plugs, wires, and coils if it has not been done already. Running a can of BG44k or a bottle of Techron through a tank of gas wouldn't hurt either. Also inspect all of the vacuum lines to make sure none are worn out or disconnected.

I just know how many miles are on this engine (its # 3 for this car). I bought the car used. I think I will just change the plugs anyhow for good measure. by "tune up" I mean bringing it in to have everything checked out (like the mentioned parts) and have any work done. I also have a P2004 code that needs fixing as well. Other than that, I get a sensor error for my Engine coolant level. Its strange. (and I did search this and found out it was quite common) But for my case, say Im doing 4th gear 40mph for a few minutes the light will come on. Clutch in, and as soon as RPM gets to idle, light goes off. My coolant levels are good. So I just assume sensor error.

I noticed that on switching from a Mustang GT. I used to do a slow lazy gear change for smooth driving but on this you need to change gear quickly. The revs drop off quicker and with the close ratio gears you don't need them to drop as far on upshifts.

It's probably the smooth rotary engine that doesn't need much flywheel mass so that inertia is missing. The plus side is that the revs pick up a lot quicker when accelerating.

I don't see anything wrong. My S2 does this as well.

Here is a chart straight from the Service Manual.
