What is Mica?

Does anybody know what it means that it's a Mica Red or Mica Green paint? Does it mean that it's got flecks of other colors mixed into the paint? Does that mean that it's not clearcoat?

I looked mica up on the web and it appears to be a crystalline mineral. Does that mean there are small crystalline particles mixed in the paint, probably to make it shine better?

Good guess.
That helped me out a lot, because I didn't know what mica ment and was too lazy to look it up.

Yup, "Xxxx Mica" is what Mazda calls their metallic paint colours. They are all clearcoated.

the difference between mica and metallic is the size of the flakes. the metallic flakes are much bigger than the mica flakes.

They're a different color, too: metallic flakes are silver while mica flakes are golden.

Yeap the Mica is golden flakes and the metallic is silver flakes. The blue RX has silver flakes which make the car seem lighter then it really is.
