i hope they don't. i can't stand convertibles. maybe a hardtop one...but definately not soft tops. noisy, way too many moving parts that could break, shrinkage, etc. etc.

Because the top contributes so much to the rigidity of the body, (even the rear window contributes!) that a "2x2 roadster" would have only a shadow of the handleing of the current body. And handling is really this car's forte.

The 'rumor' has been around since 2001 ... a huge part of the chassis stiffness is due to the center tunel, it's perfect for a Vert verson - Yamaguchi RX-8 book. This topic comes up VERY often, search!

When it does come out, I'll be the first on the list to buy one.

So you are saying that it is your opinion that chassis stiffness would not be compromized without a top? A center tunnel has to work much harder for torsional stiffness than does an outer cage. I have only comparo driven two roadsters (the 350z and the stratus/sebring) but they had huge differences in corner bog (one goes from good to fair the latter from poor to uggg.) Besides, most low riding rearwheelers have a tunnel.

That's the one ... look on Ebay, or make some friends at Mazda

How about you come to my place, bring a 6 pack, and I'll let you read my copy?

Depends on the season, winter - a stout or porter. Summer - an IPA or wheat beer

Write that down, there will be a test later.

Convertibles also add weight. Center tunnel or not, stiffness would be reduced. But, would it be enough to matter, that's another question.

We had a Rottweiler like that. He was HUGE. Our lil' mutt used to whup on him, though. He'd always scare off the other neighborhood dogs with his deep-assed, super-loud bark. Little did they know he just wanted to play...

A convertible would be nice if its a hardtop, doesn't affect rigidity and doesn't add weight... Not possible unless someone come up with better design or special metal then price would increase. Bottomline: No good
