What A Car

A good day here in ireland,my beautiful red 6 speed arrived today.I haved a few nice cars over the last couple of years bmw audi's etc. but nothing compared to this fantastic rx8.Its just the noise, the low down seating position and did i mention the noise.I have owned a couple of highish powered diesels 200bhp with buckets of torque so i was expecting power to be poor buts its excellant completey enough.

Just one quick question it only has 10miles on the clock and there is a little bit of a burning smell while driving at times perhaps coming into the cabin from the air vents is this normal as it clears itself out or is it something to worry about?

Yup smell is norm. If it last for like over 2 weeks then thats not norm an I would check the fluids. Other than that enjoy the drive.

That burning smell will go away soon. It's some sort of compound in the engine to help with the break-in period. Once broken in it gets better once you start hitting the redline. Rotary smoothness is hard to beat.

That smell is fantastic, it's a new car, a new engine, a new everything. It's completely normal. Good luck with that.

Yup, I get the smell too for break-in. My friend thought it was my clutch since I'm new to manual. Smells like a rotary!

Pretty typical, most every car you test drive when new will have a smell like that.

Yeah, but what about the noise?

The burning smell is probably the undercoating that melts and drips onto hot exhaust pipes. Will clear itself up after a few more kms.

Ooouu that smell, can't you smell that smell? (Not many people will know that lyric sniplet)

Congrats on your new purchase. My buddy who owns a 911 Carrera is jealous of how well my 8 handles the curves
