Everyone has their own opinions about it, but for me it was one of the few cars that can seat 4, drives very comfortably, shifts great ( I can literaly shift and steer with one hand while drinking hot coffee or talking on the cell phone with the other, this of course, is while in a abandon parking lot only) handles better than most cars and this is while maintaining a sports car like look and feel. But the best thing is the way you feel while driving it and I felt better in this than any other car I drove. The stats of the other cars might be better, but they sure didn't feel better and thats what counted the most to me! So like the above post, driving one yourself is the only way to know, not listining to someone rant on such as myself.

Spend some time on this thread and you'll see why:

the little things

After that, test drive the car. A lot of things , especially the sound of the engine and the steering feel, cannot be fully described with words.

its the most exotic, high performing, 4 seater you will ever drive. It has the X factor for so many reasons, constantly turning heads and thrilling the driver each time we get behind the wheel.

I almost bought it before I drove it...then I drove it. It is a truly awesome feat of engineering. Its not for everyone though. Thats because only cool people get to own them!

That's all it took for me. My buddy handed me the keys for the test drive and it was all over. I didn't even want to drive anything else.

I bought it after looking at it in the show room. (No test drive available in this country for 8 from dealers) Love the back seats capability. Got a wife and a kid.....the second kid is coming this october.

After own the car, love the ride in the city. Where I live, the road condition is not so smooth like in the states or europe or Japan. 8 gives me the perfect comfort ride yet great handling for the cornering.

To me, 8 is the best sports car to drive in the city as daily usage.

REVS, REVS, REVS, and REVS some more :D
the balance is sublime
it's so easy to play "toss and catch" (credits for that term goes to MT magazine I believe...) with the tail even at highway speeds
and the looks
and the fact that I can drive it all day and not get bored

I used to own a wrx, in stock form the wrx handles like a boat compared to the rx-8. 1 test drive is all it took for me. I didn't buy from the dealer I took the test drive with (all theirs had options I didn't want), but went right home and started searching inventory for a dealership who had what I wanted. That was a long 4 days till I found my car, then went there & bought it that day.

I've had people ask me, "is it as fast as it looks?"
