Well, I, err we did it...
I've always been very borderline about the car and unimpressed with the acceleration, but loved the handling and nimbleness. My girlfriend/soon to be wife has been driving an Altima for the last 3 years and we decided it was just time for her to have something more fun. So after some internet dealings the fleet manager we will be picking up a black MT RX-8 with the touring package. We got it for a few hundred over invoice so we're happy, and the deal should be signed sometime tomorrow night. It came down between that and a Mini S, but there was a waiting list and dealers are still charging MSRP on the Minis. Besides the Mini seems to be looking like a reliability nightmare.
I'm looking forward to having it sit next to my WRX and getting to play around with it whenever I want.

LOL, i thought she would buy an STI 05" :D
and yeah, if u have read the April issue of CR, the mini has extremely poor reliability; not sure about the mini S though.
btw, i have heard there are some ppl switching from STI to mini S... pretty hard to believe.

Thanks guys, should be fun, they will certainly look nice next to one another. I'll have to do some spy vs. spy photoshop once I get some photos with the white and the black car side by side.
I swore I would never own a black car... but I told her if she really wants it I'm never cleaning it. But her Altima was silver, neither of us like red or yellow cars, the blue bugs me because of all the blue WRXs, and the green left us puzzled as to whether we liked or hated it. So black it is!
I just think it's cool that all she will drive is MTs now, she didn't even know how really until she drove my TSI and loved that and ever since then she has wanted nothing to do with an AT car.
This is the first time I've ever dealt with a fleet managed and I will never buy a car in another way, painless and no dealings with the idiot salesperson and dealer, well... til tomorrow... When they try to sell us all kinds of crap like 3M leatherguard and rustprotection blah blah blah. I think I'm just going to be a dick and say if anyone tries to sell me any of that crap or extended warranty we're walking and heading to the next dealer. :p

yea,
did all mine over the net, got 400 over invoice, had a site draft. went to the finance guy, he said he could beat it but not buy enought to make it worth our time.
no slop and gop no gatchas, no extended warrantee crap. it was just pleasent.
btw you missed titanium. but thats ok.

Whats wrong with black cars tough guy? Welcome to the club buddy...now I guess in August I will be posting... U err..aah.. I sold my 8 for a Subaru....
