Well, it happened: my brilliant Black got egged.

So I come out to my car to go to work this morning like normal to find my car covered in gooey white egg-****.

I was 1/2 awake but as soon as I saw this I instantly turned into a lunatic, if the people that would have done this could have been caught, they would be in the hospital from what I would have done to them.

I called work and told them id be late b/c I ran up grabbed some quarters and hit the car wash and got off as much as I could. There is obvious paint damage where the eggs hit.

There is video survelliance system and I have them looking into it (but its highly doubtful anything will come of that).

It sucks but I will probably just pay the 500 dollar deductible to fix it, because I have full coverage and cannot stand to see my baby with the marks of pain on her, on top of that a 200+ dollar car cover. So the ******* *** that did it costs me 700+ dollars so far.

My day is shot to hell now.

Sorry to hear that. Ive been the victim of vandalism before in my previous car too. I would never do that to someone else's car.

That hurts us all!
There seems to be a lot of that stuff going on - one of my friends was security at our local Midstate Fair. she said their worst problem was with car vandels and the most common thing was guys peeing on other people's cars in the parking lot. Any well kept nice car was the target - her supervisor was especially upset because two drunks got his car!

At least the egg only messes the paint! - since you are going to repaint anyway - you might try the ammonia, followed by baking soda, followed by the lemon with sugar (very gently so it doesn't scratch) - it's more for bird poop - but it may get out some of the egg stuff. Use a soft electric tooth brush.

Man, that really sucks!!! That upsets me just hearing about it. And I thought my biggest problem was worrying about the most miniscule little rock chip in the paint on my passenger door (darn construction). You can't see it unless your face is right on it but since I inspect Bella so closely I noticed it right away and now it's like it is haunting me and I can't see anything else. LOL

Cheer up! You're baby will look good as new in no time!

Sorry to hear that bro. I hate f*****s that ruin your stuff, because they cant afford it themselves. Unfortunately its the price we pay to own the best cars on the road. Gool luck with getting it all fixed up.

thank you all for your thoughts.

I'm going to snap some pictures here, and give the police a call just to report it.

Besides cleaning the affected areas as best I can, should I give the whole car a supreme hand-zaino wash and re-wax everything? or wait to see what the body shop at Mazda says?

sorry to hear this happened to u... i had some rock chips on my front touched up by a body shop recently, and although they did a good job, i'm learning that- sadly- with black it's just never going to be perfect once this kinda thing happens...

the problem is that with black everything shows up. even tho blotches are fixed and no longer visible, when i look at the car at night at an angle, i'm still able see (on the clearcoat) some haze where they polished/ buffed that **** out. it's a no-win situation unless i spend the big bucks and have the hood & bumper re-painted. but, even then, paint matching wont' be 100%.

i was really bummed for a long time about this- esp since my car's so new still. but, i decided that i bought the car ultimately because i love driving it. and, tho i would like for it to look nice and not have any chips & scratches, that's never going to happen unless i leave it covered in the garage and never drive it. so, i stuck on a nose mask and just pretend like that ****'s not there... <lol>

until the day carmakers decide to use scratch proof paint (yes there is such a thing, just that it's expensive) we'll just have to deal w/ the pain of this kinda stuff...

hope u get your car taken care of.

Try to use the black (color) wax that turtle wax sells. Its good at covering road chips and alot of other things up, from a normal looking distance.

Monday when I went outside I found egg all over my work truck. Lucky for me the guy/girl, missed my 8.

Sorry to hear that...I have a black 8 too, and every little mark shows up all too well. I don't know if Mazda was trying to save weight or money, but the paint on our 8's is just way too thin. If I had more money, I'd get the car repainted with some quality paint.

Good luck getting it fixed, man. Sorry to hear about the damage

it's exactly for this reason that I have only rented and bought houses that have garages

I get to go saturday to get the damage looked at, until them im going to 100% handwash, and zaino treat everything I can get my hands on.

A car cover shall be on the way by tommorow.

I still need to get my hands on a book of paper matches so I can apply the touch-up paint to that microscopic chip on my door so that it won't really be that visible that it's been touched up. A former neighber worked in a body shop and he said to use the "fluffy" paper end of paper matches since it lightly "feathers" the paint into a small area without being thick. I've never tried this since the only other chips I have found have been on the underneath front side of the appearance package so it wasn't really going to be visible anyway unless you crawled down on the ground to stare at it. I think I'm going to wash mine again Saturday to get a better idea of what's there.

BG, you should try Langka—it really works well on tiny little paint chips:
http://www.langka.com
(Basically, you apply your Mazda touch-up paint and then let it dry. Of course, no matter how careful you are, there will be a blob higher than the surrounding paint. The Langka smooths down the blob to the same level as the rest of the paint. On tiny chips it'll be virtually invisible when you're done.

I feel you. My car got keyed. Cost me a $100 deductible, fortunately, but the damage was over $900. Some people can't stand anyone else to have a nice car. Just remember that if their life was going even half as well as yours, they wouldn't have done it.

Actually that's not necessarily true. A good body shop—I mean a really good shop—can match factory paint—even black—perfectly. But shops this good are few and far between, and they always charge $$$. Usually it's the shops that restore classic cars and do custom paint jobs. I had a really good shop once paint the scratched trunk lid on my new BRG (dark green) Miata. Not only did they match the paint perfectly, they did the job so well that it had no orange peel—unlike the rest of the car! They graciously agreed to redo it, and matched not only the paint but the "Mazda orange peel" effect perfectly! The owner told me that with today's paints and technology, any paint can be perfectly matched. But he said if you want perfection, you have to find a really good shop. Most body shops are good, but not great. (Which is fine for most people, who aren't obsessed with their cars and are happy if the match is pretty close.)

right. but, if u're going to drive ur car- ie be outside in the sun, in the rain, in the twisties etc- it's unrealistic to think ur car's going to be pristine indefinitely. and, that's all i'm saying. even if the imperfections are fixed now, at what cost and to what amount of time spent. there is no guarantee that more imperfections won't come later down the road. it just sucks that paints are not more durable.

How true. I wonder if paints are less durable than they were in the past.
