Possibly remnants/remains of a plastic bag. Not unusual.

yep.. that looks like a bag melted to your pipe. if it bothers you, you can use some oven cleaner or a razor blade mounted in a wall paper scraper. Oven cleaner wont get it all off, razor blade will scratch.

Judging by the nice look of the metal without the goo, I think you drive your car real easy. A track day should cook it up to more ash that can be rubbed off sort of like self cleaning oven.

I got a bag too; Watched it float off ground, then, the smell was unmistakable when I got out of the car a few minutes later. It took at least a month to go away, and I couldn't scrap it off.

I think laquer thinner might soften to scape off, but driving the car hard won't hurt exhaust, since its very good stainless steel, unlike a custom bent exhaust at a muffler shop.

Yep...i do drive it easy...its an AT...but i do drive it with the trip tonic...lately i been driving like a sissy lol...cause it vibrates too much and shuts down whenever i stop hard....and when im in first gear i press the gas all the way to maybe 4-6rpms before it makes a weird noise from the engine and kicks back like losing power....i need to change the spark plugs, so far thats what i know...my friends and i are going to the track pretty soon....hopefully this issue is resolved by then...thanks!
