^^ well yeah, but does it say it voids warranty ??? no, just lowers performance, just like putting 87 octane in the car. lowers performance,, not voids the warranty.

Did you read the whole paragraph? Why don't you go and read your owners manual and post up exactly what it says. Mine is an 04', IIRC the wording has changed a bit.

Oh, and then print this out and show them and see what their response is. Ask them if U.S. Renesis engines are built in a different factory that JDM versions. Mazda genuine parts FTW.

Yeah but the can says "Full Synthetic for Renesis". They can say what they want but they don't have a leg to stand on. There is a reason they did not put "Do not use Synthetic oil in your RX8 or it will void your warranty" in the owners manual.

Meh, it's all bullshit anyways. Even if you did do oil changes at the dealer, some dealers do synthetic oil changes on RX8's (plenty of members get/got syn oil changes at the dealer). How do you think they handle engine replacements? There is no way they would deny it because of the use of synthetic when they did the oil changes. Not to mention that each dealer uses a different oil all together, it's not like they all get oil from one supplier. You will laugh (or not) but I actually went around back and took pics of the oil tanks at two different dealers and one uses Mobil Clean 5W-20 and the other uses Castrol GTX 5W-20.

Remember .. they dont WANT to give you a new engine, so dont just wait for a response from them. Keep calling and let them know that you mean business. They are in the wrong here. Dont worry, you will have a new engine in no time. The law is on your side.

Just heard from Mazda- Now they are saying that if I pay for the engine to be torn down, and if they find that the engine failure is due to something they did, they will pay for the engine replacement costs. I'm not sure how they expect to prove or disprove this. I'm sure that it will turn out in my favor- right and I'll get that free coupon for a new RX8 if the engine goes again. As the Mazda dealer said, "how can they prove that oil was the cause of a lost engine. Sounds like they're just passing the buck and they should step up to the plate." These engine problems have been well documented, so much so, that Mazda increased their warranty. Now they have to fullfill it.
At any rate- I have asked for reason for denial in writing (use of a semi-synthetic oil). I have been asking for this for two days now. I'll keep everyone posted.

Pretty sure you are all set ... unless you decided to dump straight tranny fluid into your motor i doubt that the root cause is due to a poor choice in oil.

Play dumb and just say you were following the manufactures instructions as outlined in the owners manual. They may try but they can't penalize you for following their manual.

Keep pushing them for it, because they will not give it to you in writing and will cave. If they are stupid enough to put it in writing, they will get creamed in court. I also am willing to bet your "helpful" dealer is two timing you. I think what you need to do is go over the dealer and the regional rep and ask for his supervisor.

Where are you located? I'll find your regional manager and give you the skinny on how to contact whomever it is. That will put a boot up there *** real fast.

I would personally be there with a camera for any engine tear down but this all sounds fishy to me, I don't recall this ever happening before and from I remember from sleepy-z (member who worked at reman plant in VA) the dealers are not allowed top tear them apart for fear that they could damage reusable parts needed for the reman process.

I was thinking the same thing. I've heard warranty work is not very profitable, it could be they haven't even talked to MNAO because they just don't want to do the work. They'd prefer to keep space in their shop open for $90 oil changes. However, I'm generally willing to believe any conspiracy theory that portrays dealership staff as forked-tongue *****.

Just giving an update friends,
Mazda has still yet to provide the dealership or myself with a written denial. I requested this (the dealer as well) yesterday around lunchtime. When I spoke to them this morning they said I would receive an email around lunchtime today. Yesterday, they were clear that my maintenance receipts looked fine but I was denied due to the fact 1 time semi-synthetic was used.

I think you should threaten legal action. They are leaving you without a car and the longer this goes the more money you are losing. Honestly, it should be the dealership that acts as your proxy to mazda. This isn't good publicity for your dealership and you should stress that.
