VSR Rims... E-Bay
So after doing a little searching and research I only found part of the answer I am looking for. I want to get a set of black rims (nothing expensive), but something that won't bend. I saw a thread a little while back about someone else buying rims off of ebay for winter use. My main question results around the fact of cheap rims bending/cracking? What is the cause of this & why do some use rims for winter and others summer? I'm just not too familiar with this subject... Here are the ones I like on ebay.

thats all i gotta say!
|
So do you like them?? Any problems with them? I just don't want to take a risk on them bending because my monetary funds aren't inifinite. You know?
What's the deal with winter/summer rims and them bending?? I'm not familiar with this. |
And were those the tires from your stock OEM rims?
|
i love the rims and the meet i was at no one believed me when i told them what i paid.....they look better in person then the pics showed and i drove through NYC roads all day and they held up just fine......my fronts are oem and i changed the rears....they also accept the tpms sensors so that was a plus!

The ones I am looking at are slightly different, but yeah, I really like yours.
The main thing I am worried/curious about is if you're gonna be expecting problems or foresee any with cheap rims?? What makes rims bend/crack?? Whether? Cold?? Shitty material?? |
they would bend/crack if you hit a pot hole hard enough but then again so will stock wheels or $2k wheels....personally if i break one of these i can buy 4 replacements for the price of what most would pay for one wheel.....cost effective...yes...big name brand....no....good looking...your decision....they are on your car and only your car....and on a plus note they were lighter than my oem wheels so i cant complain....no regrets from me....and i can always go back to stock!

I think you may have just sold me on them. One more question b/c you've been helping me greatly. I go to school up north at Penn State. So in winter, it snows and gets awfully cold. Bad idea putting these on for winter?? Does that heighten the chance for cracking?? Should I just wait for summer. Thanks man for your help.

LOL... not feeling it... how much do they weigh?
|
those rims are horrible!
|
XDEEDUBBX, What do you think about Chrism's?? I don't think mine are horrible, come on. I have a brilliant black 8 and want to get black on black.
|
personally if its gonna be a 4 season car then put the winter tires on the rims you like the least and summers on your favorites.....i dont see why they wont hold up through the season but being in PA you will have freshly painted rims being subjected to constant salt.....not the best thing for any paint....and i was also looking at the same rims as you are...just decided on the ones i have because they caught my eye better

the link op posted, those wheels do not look like it should be on the 8 :( . looks more for a pimp mobile. but yah the a112 dont look to bad, if i had to pick from those wheels i wouild pick the a112 or fusion. gl on your purchase
