Question for anyone who might know. I have a somewhat early 2004 (Oct 03) with a Vin that ends in 09332. Does this mean that I have the 9332nd RX8 ever? I guess what I am asking is did they start at VIN 00001 and so on, and is the sequence for all production or just US exports.

I did search and could not find an answer one way or the other. All I saw was that the last 5 were the sequence, but it did not say if it was world wide sequence or where they started.

Regarding your interest in the "Vehicle Identification Number number" as you put it.

You will find your 03-model RX-8 has a JM1 prefix on it meaning USA export.

Your RX-8 would be USA-export production #9332 built in OCT-03

The first bunch of 03-models exported to the USA came off the line in FEB/MAR 03 for delivery a month or so later.

I think a guy named Brad Berger from Seattle got the lowest VIN publically sold RX-8 with a VIN of under 100.

FYI. Aussie export version are numbered in similar ways. Mazda Australia rip us off charging double what you guys pay for the same car so numbers are way down on the USA sales. My 03-model is prefixed "JM0" & is Aussie-export production #669 built in SEP-03.
