Which Version of the RX8 was tested at Laguna Seca?

I got the impression the European Spec version was tested at the track (rotarynews.com), but I am not too sure if the US or the European version was driven on the Pacific Coast highway? I would think that the european version wouldn't be legal to drive on US roads, but I didn't hear anything mentioned as to which car they were driving.

Given, that there COULD be a 150 lb. weight difference, I'd be interested to see how the two versions compare. With 10 extra HP in the US version, I don't think there will be much of a difference in acceleration, but I wonder if the european version feels different in the twisties.

Then again, maybe the US version will come in at the european weight of 2,860 lbs! :D

From: SF Bay Area
All cars driven that day were handbuilt pre-production cars that required a special license to import and drive.
