Vandelized 8 in military base

Hey guys,

This morning my 8 was key'd to hell and back. It has scratches from what looks like 3 different keys and it was all over the car. From headlights to taillights and on both driver and passenger sides. This is the first time Ive had this happen to me so Im a bit sad. It hurts to see those scrathes from 30 feet away. Anyways its very unfortunate too that it happened inside a military instalation. I had the Military Police come and check it out. They took my statement and took pictures of the damage. I also called my insurance and theyre scheduling me to get it fixed early next week in San Diego. I'll still look around for a respectable body shop while Im down there this weekend. I took pics but I have the cable that uploads it to my comp in San Diego so Ill post them this weekend. Thanks for listening to my vent guys.

Sorry to hear. By any chance was there a camera?

Kane 03-15-2007 02:32 PM

WTF!!!!???? That really pisses me off, it is bad enough that no one seems to care about your ride in parking lots, etc. But at least on base you should not have to worry about punk asses. That is BS, wish you could find them and you know.... counsel them.... and uh provide some kind of training program for them... yeah, that is exactly what I would do.

RotaryP7 03-15-2007 02:33 PM

Wow. Talk about haters..

StewyRX8 03-15-2007 02:36 PM

Dude, thats weak. Why are people such dbags? Hope you find 'em and then crucify them...

Sounds like a Pea-minded jealous A-hole that needs to be taken in back of the hanger and get their butt kicked. Good luck.

jskup1 03-15-2007 02:41 PM

Some of the trashiest people are in the military unfortunately. Either they're jealous pieces of crap or they don't give a shit as they'll open their door into you without thinking twice. That is why I have a '96 tercel which I drive to the base every day.

On a military base, that's a new one for sure.

Sucks--jerks everywhere. Hope it doesn't happen again.

There are a lot of random people on most military bases. Even the commissaries are sometimes on base and any family member has access. It's not like he parked inside Ft. Knox or something.

OMG you seem like you reacted ALOT better then I would have. Good luck with getting it fixed, Im sure they will make it look like new again!!!

Chrisbert 03-15-2007 03:27 PM

Time for a soap party.

Winfree 03-16-2007 02:55 AM

That stinks!!!
Have you got a lot of teenage dependents on base? (It's hard to believe that some one in a uniform would fall this low!) I hope the cops or OSI or who ever tried to fingerprints!
If you can figure out the time when it occured you might be able to watch because they had to be coming or going - especially if they had a key in their hand!

It one thing to envy a great car and another thing to mess up somebodies stuff - can you figure out from the scratches how tall the person was? Right or left hand? That key will have paint residue that will be hard to hide....

N rider89 03-16-2007 03:32 AM

sick the military on them?

marvin_rock 03-16-2007 05:21 AM

That really really blows. I would @#!$ someone up, you have no idea. My 8 is like my holy grail and everyone knows it. Yeah, surprisingly enough military bases aren't that restrictive. If you just make up a name (I'm here to see Sgt Smith) have a lisence, insurance and proof of registration, you can get on base. Have you pissed anyone off lately? were any other cars keyed? Just seems random. Crazy man, I would totally hunt someone down.

Maraku 03-16-2007 10:15 AM

Thanks for the reply guys. The MPs didnt take any fingerprints. They said it was one of those cut and dry cases because there have been multiple reports of the same incident for the past week or so. They said expensive cars are being targeted and their only suspects are high school kids and "young" Soldiers from my squadron. He gave me a pat on the back and said have a good day. I did try putting those quick fix scratch solution to my car and for the most part it hid about 50% of the scratches. Atleast my 8 doesnt look like a zebra anymore :yelrotflm

Dinhx8 03-16-2007 10:15 AM

you need to find out who ordered the code red.

Cody Red 03-16-2007 10:26 AM

eeh, sorry to read about this. I'm always concerned about leaving my car alone. home you find a good body shop.

glad to see you're feeling a little better (hence the humor "at least my 8 doesn't look like a zebra anymore" hah

I was going to ask that same question! Sometimes I think you have to worry about stuff like this if you give people paperwork! While you may be doing your job there are people that are unsuitable for being in the military and would probably react in such a way! Other than that the military is still a reflection of society (beyond what some might believe)! There are people from all walks of life both positive and negative and some of the negative don't leave all of their negatives behind when they join!

F***in LOW Life...

More than almost anything else, when you take care of your pride and joy, some asshole does this...

An accident...well it's an accident, but this IS the most SNEAKY way of being a total prick!
No one usually see these F* Heads, and sometimes you never see the damage until you wash.

Good luck with the fix mate.

Sheep 03-16-2007 03:27 PM

I hope is not Polk you are talking about. After I got my 8 two years ago, our population of Rx8 is going up to almost double digit. But look that the bright side, your 8 hasn't been ran over by a TANK... yet :).

Look, it could have been a civilian, it could have been a dependent. Nobody in the military would vandalize a vehicle; if they had any service with the military they an E-nothing, busted down, already well on their way to being discharged. Who has time to vandalize a vehicle anyway? Don't even have time to sleep!

It's nice that you think of the military that way but unfortunately you are wrong! I had a friend who was in the military and his ex-girlfriend was in the military and she keyed, broke the windows out, and slashed all 4 tires on his car...all while being active duty! I'm not bashing your take on things...I'm just telling you the facts!
