Valvoline conventional, castrol edge or castrol gtx?

Hi there,

Was looking to buy some oil today, before I do. I'd like some oppinions on Castrol edge 5w-30, valvoline mineral 5w-30 or castrol gtx 5w-30.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

i also prefer Castrol GTX. i've used it for years in my RX-7's with excellent results and will change the oil in my 8 tomorrow with it.

Well, i wouldnt want some freaky Irish dude comin out of nowhere and whakking my ass with a dipstick....so if i were you i would go wit the Edge. Ok, lame joke

On serious note, i too have used GTX in my 7 and it has done me well. I use Idemitsu in my 8 but thats just because a local shop stocks it, so...

Edge is another BP's "fake" Synthetic oil.

Valvoline is not that great

so use GTX

I use nothing but "True" Full Synthetic so. :)

I use valvoline..thats wat my mazda dealer uses

ken-x8 03-15-2009 05:20 PM

Been using GTX for over 40 years, although I don't remember if was been called that all the way back. My dealer also uses GTX.

I think I've posted before that I wouldn't use synthetic oil. This is a nice car, it deserves the real stuff.

Motorcraft 5W20 syn. blend. Seems to do the job just fine. I think that, as long as you change your oil on time, and don't track the car frequently, we're picking nits about how "good" any particular oil is.

Maybe you just needed an oil change, heavier oil will not restore power or make it run smoother. Oh and you call 30c hot?
