Using Nav LCD to view DVD's

For those of you with the Nav System:

Has there been any discussion on whether or not it is possible to use the DVD-ROM Drive that runs the NAV software to view DVD movies.

It's been posted before that you can't used the dvd-rom to play dvd movies. You need an interface like the one at avelectronic.com. They have some pictures in the gallery of it on an 8.

I'd do it if I had the skills to install it right. The gallery shot(http://www.avelectronic.com/GalleryP.../RX8_Tuner.jpg) shows the installed unit behind a rear passenger seat. I haven't even added the strakes yet... tearing out the back seats makes me a little queasy.

I REALLY want to get it and do it BUT, I don't want to void out the warranty....I think i'm going to wait and get some other "factory" accessories before I watch TV on my Nav screen...
