But I'm sure that won't happen to the RX-8 because people don't mind paying $3 to $4 a gallon for a car which returns 13mpg.

Come on Guys... The 8 is a great car for the price! When the average price of a car sold in the US just crept above $30K in 2005. I got my 2004 RX-8 at $25K Sport MT, no leather. Audi A4 V8 sells 3500/month and it is $10K more. Similar gas mileage and all. Gas mileage - gosh the 4 thousand dollars you save buying an eight over the competition will buy 1200 Gallons of Premium Gas - that's like raising the gas milleage over a 5 year span by 5 miles per gallon. Who would be complaining about mileage (or HP for that matter) if they were getting 21 instead of 16 MPG!
The RX-8 is just not that kind of Vehicle - you really have to put it up against the Z or other sports car. The closest in feel to the RX-8 in the Porshe 911, but that is another league of performance. and a 3-1 price difference. IMO that's why the RX-8 is such a great car. Mazda need to position the 8 properly against that car.
I can see the ad now... 15 seconds of quick shots of Silver 8's and a silver 911 rally racing at Mazda raceway... then low camera angle focussing on the Porshe turning right and parking. With the 911 in the foreground, hiding 3 RX-8's behind it - as the camera pans to reveal the RX-8's the Porshe driver gets out and looks over his car at the three eights - moments later 12 people get out of the 8's --- Message "Get more MMMM for your money. zoom, zoom, zoom."

The selling point of the rx8 should the be the fact that its great value for money. Yes competition is high, but if they can push the base price down to say under $25k(or as low as they can possible go), they might have the edge to the likes of 350z and G35. I mean who wouldn't be pschyed to get a beautiful looking AND practical sports car for under $25k.
well anyway thats just my thoughts on it.

Either way, it doesn't explain why you're calling it "sc". Correct me if I'm wrong.
