Unlock Both Doors with Button

Does anybody know if it's possible to change the outside door lock/unlock button to unlock both doors at once?

zoom44 05-12-2010 09:12 PM

no its not

Galen Darkmoon 05-13-2010 05:06 AM

I thought if you pressed it twice in a row it unlocked both? it does with the remote.

it does. i do this everyday

Passenger side request buttong unlocks both doors. Drivers side unlocks drivers door, if you press it twice it also unlocks passenger door.

Wingznut 05-13-2010 06:18 AM

I believe Zippy is looking to open both doors on the first push.

zoom44 05-13-2010 08:17 AM

thats what it sounded like to me wingz

laythor 05-13-2010 08:20 AM

is your passenger complaining that they have to wait for two button presses?

rodjonathan 05-13-2010 08:27 AM

lol maybe they are my fiancee used to complain then i started getting into the car and unlocking it from the door instead ... complains were gone :)

CyberPitz 05-13-2010 11:44 AM

Yeah, 2 pushes unlocks both. Unless you can reprogram the computer to unlock both, but that's a little bit of a PITA :P

What ever happened to opening the door for your lady FIRST?
Chivalry is dead.

I've been married for twenty, and she can open her own damned door.

Take my word for it. If you want to be married for 21, open her door.

So all that shows is Zoom is more respectful than you... :dunno:

Its sweet that after 10 years of marriage he still opens her door for her, and i bet she smiles everytime he does it.

yeah. my dad always opens the door for anyone that rides with him- except like his brothers :). also my mom's dad would always walk out to the car with you after a visit and open the door and help you in.

Its a "common" courtesy that I still try to perform even today.

yeah :) i used to own a 65 mustang. I heard a story once where the guy wrote that he always opened the door to his car for a lady and then he would watch through the window as he walked around to his side to see if she would reach over and unlock his door from the inside. then he knew she was a keeper.

my wife when we were dating would reach over unloock it and push the door open a little :)

HomicidalApple 05-13-2010 06:30 PM

Haha awwww

THats nice that she does that rather than just sitting their in her seat looking foward waiting on you to get your own a** in the car

Ditto, except replace "wife" with "girlfriend" and "married 10 years" with "going out for 2 years".

Are-Ex-Eight 05-13-2010 06:38 PM

i usually make my wife wait for me to get in, start the car, rev it up, move it some, then unlock the door.

shes still with me

lol

btw this is not something im proud of

NErx8 05-13-2010 07:07 PM

Opening the door is fine and all, but my wife doesn't care :P She appreciates me cooking and cleaning far more.

shinka~mami 05-13-2010 07:40 PM

Haha, I was not lol-ing chivalry, just how cute it sounded to hear "chivalry is dead". I love that you guys (well majority of u anyways) open the doors for your respective women. even tho I am single, I am lucky enough to have some pretty amazing friends who not only open the door for me but offer their hand to help me out and walk me to my car door when I am leaving.
Bronx tale is a fave movie and they put in that part about a woman leaning over to open the guys door :) chivalry should be mutual :) although automatic door unlock makes it a bit more interesting.
Most women appreciate the gesture boys, so +1 to opening the door for the lady :) would give my future man points for that annnnnnny day. :)

Going on 30...I had a Porsche 914 and most of the time the top was off so we both hopped over the doors...got her started out right. I did open it for her on our wedding day.

The other side of the coin is it cost me dearly. I spent almost as much on a 25th anniversery diamond ring as i did my RX8. Thats OK she definately earned it - no not from what you're thinking (OK maybe....) but just for putting up with me all those years.

That 914...my son (now 25) bought one 7 years ago. He dropped a Renesis in it about a year ago and may put it on Ebay in a few weeks.

Yup.... i have the same line of thought.

It is funny though, cuz even when i go out with just friends, they freak out when I open their door for them. One even commented "my husband" never did that. Just a reflection of how you are raised I guess.

As far as 90 percent of the kids these days, yes it is.

I believe in opening the door for my girls. I mean girl. It was something that has always been instilled in me. Common courtesy. I don't feel a lady has to open the door for a man though.
I mean I believe in equal rights and all but women are the fairer sex. I feel men should treat them a bit better than their manly buddies.
It's the little things that entice women and make lasting impressions. :eyetwitch

mbentley 05-14-2010 07:07 AM

+1, i always open the door for any woman who gets in my car although it is normally just my fiancee :)

it is amazing how far the little things will get you in life... maybe you guys who have never opened a door for a woman should try it sometime. not only do you look like a nicer guy, it will prevent the door from swinging into an obstacle (ie - another car, a pole, etc) since you will be right there to hold it. some people just are not familiar with the size or how easy the rx8 doors can swing open at times, especially with a little breeze in the right direction.

this story is actually from a movie. a bronx tale.

i dated a girl once, and it was SO obvious she saw this movie, she was in such a rush to unlock the door for me after she got in. ruined it for me :icon_bs:

They have equal rights to thank for that.

LMFAO :pat:

paulmasoner 05-14-2010 08:42 AM

what annoys me is when you open the door for her, it locks as soon as you shut it to walk to the drivers side of the car (this happens with keyless ignition models)

zoom44 05-14-2010 09:05 AM

um yeah i never saw bronx tale. i had to just look it up. I read/heard that story a much longer time ago than 1993. probably a decade earlier than that. I get the feeling i watched some one say it on Carson or Mike Douglas.

Sometimes you have women that think on the opposite end of the spectrum. In other words they find it insulting you are a gentleman trying to do things for them because in their mind it makes them think that you believe they can't do things for themselves. Although that's usually a sign of a womanist, you get the idea..

Regardless, I'd still open the door.

lol, this is true, i can only speak for myself so i will revise what i wrote, I would appreciate that gesture annnnnny day. am Sicilian and raised by an olde world Sicilian father and taught that a man should treat his lady with respect and soooo speaking for myself, chivalry is pure win and gets the man treated even more like a king than without.

hmmm, am prob gonna be flamed if any feminists read what i am about to post, but i love bein me and will own it soooo, i'm kinda old school, i think if you are married or in a relationship then all the more reason the man open the door, order for his significant other (obviously after the woman has told him what she would like lol), etc. i think its sexy and intimate and shows a shared respect, the man taking his role as leader and the woman trusting him enough to follow him. its a bit olde worlde in thinking but again, i was raised a bit different. everyone has a preference and if you find your match then you work it whatever way works best for the two of you. mutual respect is key. and again, just myyyy personal preference lol. i judge no one :)

I don't understand Sicilian unfortunately....

But I have a friend who is Sicilian, does that count?

shinka~mami 05-14-2010 10:08 AM

lmfao it def gives you cool points, but help, not so much :)
everyone should know a sicilian :)

Vlaze 05-14-2010 10:13 AM

Well I'll say it's cool because she (my sicilian friend) and I both have mutual respect coming from good raising to both agree with old fashioned ways better than society's in this day and age. You don't find many people like that anymore.

Actually to be technically correct she's half sicilian (mother's side) while father was from Aussie land and stole her heart from Italy :suspect:

shinka~mami 05-14-2010 10:31 AM

thats both awesome and true :)

/end thread jack? lol

adamwzl 05-14-2010 10:52 AM

I've always opened doors for the girls that get in my car and I am part of the younger generation... Having 5 sisters and being the only boy + the youngest. Everytime I went somewhere with my sisters it was drilled in my head what I have to do.

Even though the small things should help give you some browny points. It doesnt really help with this generation of girls. Normally I get the wtf look like "why are you opening my door for me.."

Sigh.. sometimes I can't win.

i got in shit in class for laughing out loud on that one

Vlaze 05-14-2010 10:56 AM

Well even at 30 (30 myself) it can be the same....American women (and men) tend to be bred last few decades to society's norm and way of thinking; women have lower expectations and date guys who treat them like crap but stay anyway and guys well, act like players.

Depends on the culture of the area, or the upbringing one had.
