Uni-blade wiper blades?
Like they have in German cars nowadays... anything like that for the RX-8? Where would I find them (online, preferably)? And what are the sizes?
Thanks all :) |
any major auto parts store should have them now; 20" driver side, 19" passenger side, IIRC.
|
What brand would I buy?
|
autozone carries them. Bosch 20" and 18" easy to install. i have them on my car...amazing!! THEY ARE PRICEY.
|
Do they take refills, and how pricey are we talking here?
|
i think it's like $14 each.
|
I got the bosch excel's on my 8 they are a Uni-blade, by far worth the extra money. I have'nt had to change them for like 2 yrs. now and they are so much quieter than the other ones. They hug to your windshield, it's awesome!
|
Nice, I need new wipers...and I haven't found any that last, so this is great timing for the thread (for me, anyways!)
|
no...the uniblade types don't have refills. it's definately worth the extra money.
|
Call me ignorant, but what makes a uni-blade unique? I thought he was talking abotu a conversion to a double hinged single wiper blade like European makers are working towards.
|
instead of the 6 points on our OE blades, the uni-blade is actually 1 bowed piece of plastic. so you get a more even distribution of pressure for a better clear. kind of hard to describe...but have you seen the rain-x commercial? same thing.

i got these from TireRack a little ways back and absolutely love them

So liek the opposite of the "triple edges" from years ago with the MONSTER ridges? More like the back of a window cleaners squeegee?

like i said - i'm really happy with mine. i put them on just before going on the new england spring run and am really glad i did. it was pretty rainy but i had nothing but a clean windshield the whole time. a huge step up from the OEMs i had on.

How are they in the winter?

I bought the Bosch Icons at $20 a pop price at AutoZone. Overpriced? Maybe. They have lasted well. They are nice in the winter: nowhere for ice to get stuck in. Bosch ones have a built-in spoiler. Plus they look nice.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ighlight=wiper Thanks for the link, just ordered a pair. Only about $5 more (after shipping) than what Checker wants for much cheaper looking blades. |
Good thread to subscribe to.

Incidentally, that's a much better savings than their other sale of $5 off in-store pick-up (sale prices don't show up when you place the order online). |
These blades are amazing, i just bought some :)
