uneven headlight brightness

I haven't seen this discussed so here goes...I don't drive at night much but several times I've followed my wife home from dinner and see my headlight reflection on the back of her expedition...the drivers side headlight is much brighter and more yellow than the passenger...i asked her if she noticed it and she said that light was way brighter than the other....i'm wondering if the drivers side light is out of position...maybe higher than the other or if that light is just burning hotter, maybe about to blow....haven't taken it to the dealership yet...not a big deal since I rarely drive at night and I don't notice it unless I'm behind someone..any thoughts?

Me and my friends have noticed the same thing...Not sure if its just where you sit and the other one looks bad or what...but I would assume that there even.

Maybe it's something they tweaked on later models to see the other lane better at night?

probably because the angle the HID is shot at.
the distance from the driver's side is shorter than the passenger side,
since HID is burning the xenon, angle of reflection and brightness could be different.
try looking at it from the passenger side and you might notice the passenger side headlight is slightly brighter..just my thought..

I know that the HID lights are aimed differently on the driver and passenger side, as to not affect oncoming traffic in the opposite lane, yet still give maximum light in the lane you're in. If you point your car at a flat surface (at night) you'll see the left light is lower, and there is a defined "step up" in the middle. This is by design. I've seen other manufacturers adopt the same style.
