Can't choose the option to get another 8 instead, as I'm still paying this one off. I'd rather let the insurance pick up the repair, and have my rates increase.
If you have another Daily driver, then drive that for the next couple of months and lower your premium on the 8 because you wont be driving it as much....just a way to save $$ on Insurance, then when your insurance lowers, raise your premium.
IMHO, you shouldn't worry about the "bondo filled" and "never line up" comments. If the shop you took it to is a decent place, they'll make it come out right. The front fender will be replaced, not puttied up. I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced the rear one, too.

Not the potenza, was the Dunlop SP 8080s, which I hate right now. Expensive, costed me 300 already for a stupid sidewall issue, and now I find out it's not entirely great in the rain. Thanks Mazda, for selecting terrible tires (the potenza sucks worst, I heard).
I don't have another daily driver (I don't drive daily anyways), this was my weekend/nights out car. I'm not willing to get rid of the 8 right now, and I trust in the shop (my dad has used this shop for at least 15 years). I have two friends who has dealt with sports cars before, so I also have their support. There's no way I'll get rid of my 8 =p
I'm more than willing to eat it through the insurance rates for my baby to be back. I've developed a very severe attachment to this car, and I think quite a few of you can understand...

Hang in there man because it's not a total and your rates may not go up much if at all depending on who you are insured with and your driving record.
A good shop can fix this easy.
This just sucks. It's a worry that the stability system didn't kick in. Here in South Africa a new RX8 hi power will cost USD45 000 (converted from South Africa Rand). I would have bought two over there. In any case, sorry about your car, as long as the vital parts like suspension and engine parts are not affected, it should give you no problems after fixing.

Well, right now the car is still in the shop, the insurance will be sending an estimator to take a look.
What I really hope to do is to see what the difference in amount is from the insurance paying the shop direct and the insurance cutting us a check instead. If I had the choice, I'd rather buy an aftermarket (replica fiberglass/cf) front bumper, rear bumper, and hood and paint them instead of getting the OEM ones from Mazda. It'd probably end up cheaper, and I was going to get those items anyways in the future.
