I think it looks cool, I love single purpose digital hardware. 9k is right though, a bluetooth OBD dongle can be had for ~$10 (very few of the more expensive ones will actually work better) and all work with the torque app (free), or Dashcommand (what I use, its $10 I think).

Also, oil temperature data is non-existent in our cars. You have to install an aftermarket gauge for that.

 

I have had one for a couple of years. I bought one for the 3 and the 6 as well. It does exactly what it says it will do, stays in the car, means I do not have to mount the phone, picks up pending codes (nice) and really provides all the data I need. The alarms are very useful. Temp at 215, shift points, kids cars now scream at them for oil changes. I highly recommend. 6 to 8 measurements per screen is nice, and I am not schlepping a $600 Cobb around. It also resets codes. I use it for a code reader when necessary.

I will give you water temp off the bus, but oil temp and pressure will require a sender that can inject the data. There are some out there.

There is also a DIY on mounting it to the defroster vent that I wrote. If you have metal, a hammer and a vise, also a saw, you are good to go.

 

Is there a thread about how to install the ultra-gauge in an RX8? Or can someone post the instructions. I'm good working on everything in the car except the electronic stuff. LOL. I've made many fixes/mods but as far as electrical I've only put new LED lights in the cabin. Anyways, about the ultra-gauge any info will be helpful, thanks.

 

It plugs into the OBD port for all data, and is mounted in any way your heart desires.

The connector is below the steering wheel. I think I bent the bracket a bit to make it invisible. Run the wire over to the left, tuck it under the gasket for the door. That will hid it all the way up until it comes on over the side defroster vent. Then stick it to the windshield.

I posted a DIY a bit back on making a bracket to attach it to the defroster vent.

Then follow the directions. It needs to get hooked up to the engine computer. If the battery dies, or is changed, you just go through the process again (turn on key, wait for it to sync, start car). If you just start the car, it will start, but the gauge will keep scanning and the compute will get pissed at the dash. Car will still run fine though.
