Can you do this somehow? I test drove the car and it beeps every time I was somewhere around redline. is this necessary? I see why it's there bc you can easily rev too high and maybe not know, but it's pretty annoying during spirited driving.

My girl was in the car and thought I was doing something wrong. I told her it's supposed to do that when you drive it fast and she says, "Yeah. Well that's real annoying."

Drive in 3rd gear at 9000RPM for 60 seconds while holding down the trunk release button and the DSC off button at the same time. Yeah, I think that is what shuts that off.

 

Lets hope she doesn't complain about something on the 8 being too small....just kidding man


I'd say of all the quirks of this car, the last thing I would be worried about is a beep at redline.

 

You know what annoying is? My gf's '01 Celica GTS in reverse..."BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP"

edit: just read another post you wrote you have a 3 month old '8'. Sorry, but I thought maybe you were an s2000 owner AND your girl was too.

 

My GF has a modded Miata 5speed... I guess that puts me up there.

 

I have a better suggestion, shift at 8600 rpm instead of redline. You don't need to bring it to 9k because it peaks before that point.

 

I have an 05 RX8, girlfriend drives the S but we both autocross the S because it's more fun. I almost picked up an 04 S before I got the 8 but the warranty and new car appeal was too much, now i'm regretting it. Especially with this crazy engine recall fiasco, guess they give a 4 year warranty cause you'll probably need it
