Apples and oranges unfortunately. At least for the RX-8, following my DIY allows you to set the car alarm while the TT is running without any problems.

Actually, if there are times where strangers might move the car (valet parking, leaving it at a body shop a few days, etc.) this could be a useful feature—assuming, of course, that normally it's NOT engaged. And you'd still have to explain how the car will run a few minutes after it's turned off, just so the valet parking guy doesn't freak out.

Never understood why Mazda didn't just include a light in the dash that goes off once the car is warmed up. Similar to the RPM lights on an M3. That way you know it's safe to turn off.

Still annoying in the middle of winter if you need to move your car that you have to leave it idling in the drive way for 5 minutes to warm up.

Why don't u just rev it?

I had an NA timer on my '79 1st gen. Just make sure you tell the Valet or whoever about it. They tend to freak a little if you don't. Mine was on a 1 min 30 sec timer. A solution for the warm up if you want a light is to get a temp gage that has a ready light on it. Autometer Nexus is a great looking gage that is fully programmable for this type of thing.

revving a cold motor is the worst thing you can do to sit that s why

revving a cold motor to redline maybe. no harm in revving it to 3k.

i hope you dont rev the cold motor at all in the winter when it is 20 degrees out regardless of how little it is . . .

If the motor has oil circulating and no load, revving to 3000 rpm will not harm it.Revving under a heavy load may.

yes i go and turn it on and let it idle for a few minutes. At least long enough to let the oil thin out a little and warm up.

I've tried to flood mine but it's next to impossible and I haven't been able to. Of course having the ambient air temps hovering around 115-120 degrees doesn't hurt either. But even in the *colder* months I still can't flood my car. It takes some serious effort.

I never heard of anyone blowing their engines revving their car at 3K for 10 seconds...

obviously it was an extreme case but revving the hell of a 3500 diesel truck on a 20 degree morning was not good. In any case you can do what you want, be impatient and put wear on the motor that you dont need or just go outside 2 in earlier and let it warm up a bit while you drink your coffee, the choice is yours.
