Has anyone heard any rumors of Mazda producing a turbocharged 8? Last months car & driver had a prototype they tested with 390 hp.

 

The 390 hp rx-8 was actually PROTECH PERFORMANCE's RX-8!

It featured a turbo kit that is coming on the market soon

the rumors have been flying ever since the 8 was made, 390 hp sounds a little high for the renesis. And I really do wonder if mazda will turbocharge another rotary after the bad rap the FD has put up.

 

Did you actually read the article? If you had you'd realize it's nothing more than a car with an aftermarket turbo kit. Also, seaeching would have been a good idea since that article and car has been discussed ad nauseum here already. As for Mazda producing a turbocharged version of the RX-8... We've been hearing rumors of a turbocharged RX-8 for years, it's very likely it'll never happen.

 

 

It also has a S/C and NAWS on the same car.

 

and a TRD exhaust.

 

rumor has it 08 they are making a 8 mazda speed but i wont believe it till i see it

I heard it's going to be a triple turbo. With one turbonator per turbo!

racing beat is working on some new camshafts for the 8, increased torque!

 

Puh-lease we all know Eddlebrock is producing new pistons and headers to get 400hp outa our rx-8.. stop all this b.s. rumor spreading boys

Though on a side note I read that article.. looks nice but the amount of cash it would cost to buy and then install it ouchies! I need to hit the lotto or find myself a suga-momma!

 

here we go again. we should ban whoever that talks about mazda's "new releases" until the actual car arrives to our local showrooms.

 

Guys, clearly the 07 RX-8 is going to feature an electric turbo with quad exhaust and 6 suicide doors.

 

There is a 4 rotor version with a rear mounted transaxle ( Corvette transaxle). It isn't factory built but I understand the motor was assembled by Mazda.

 

You're all wrong. I just picked up the new 07 Mazdaspeed RX8.. mid-engine, twin screw supercharger making about 500 rwhp.. it comes with an attachment barrel of fuel incase you decide to take it on the road! Mazda seems to have fixed our gas mileage problem.. I now get 5 MPG!!
