doesn't it seem like this compartment on the pass through kinda defeats the purpose of having a pass through? if you put something long and heavy through it will crush that plastic basket.

 

They probably figure most 8 owners won't be hauling lumber and stuff in it. Which I think is wrong. For many people this will be the only car they have.

 

We should be so lucky to even have that, considering the back seat support is a critical part of structural body rigidity since there is no B-pillar.

 

i'm sure that the basket (especially if you put some stuff in it to increase it's resistance to being crushed...) wouldn't crumple like so much paper-mache, even with a 4x4 on it... afterall, how many people (who wouldn't buy a truck in the first place) need to truck around a large length of very heavy steel pipe in their trunk?? the car can't be ALL things to ALL people...
but yes, i agree that maybe the basket shouldn't be there... but, the passthrough was designed with skiis in mind??
OH!! for the youth market, i wonder if they thought about snowboards??
