PA is this true? if so how do i stop it!!

hey guys i'm planning on buying myself a exoticspeed exhaust with the midpipe but i've heard with the midpipe you gain more horsepower but the downfall is that the check engine light is always on..... is there anyway to stop that from happening? well if its true? or should i just get the agency power exhaust which doesnt come with a midpipe.

You will have the check engine light on if you remove the cat, if you have a pre 08 then you can program the Cobb Access Port to tune it to turn the light off.

I put AP with midpipe and my CEL came on ... drove the **** outa it for a couple days and it went off and stayed off for about a month . You can also do a o2 bung extension . My vote goes to put a high flow cat instead on midpipe ... no notacble difference in hp no matter what they say and its SUPER loud with a midpipe and full exhaust . Best thing I ever did was put a high flow cat back in . can accualy hear my music and my intake and dosnt drone on the highway

You can, but it won't work.

This has been discussed countless times.

No cat = CEL.

You can live with it, constantly clear it with a code reader, or mask it with an AccessPort.

Doesn't really sound like it worked if it came back on for 2 weeks. When I had my AP midpipe, I could drive a couple miles and it would come back on after clearing the code. Sometimes I'd drive for 200 miles, 500 miles, and even once about 800 miles before the code came back. It still came back.

If the code shows up, it's not tricking anything, no matter how long it takes to come back.

Read my last post.

"If it comes back on at all, it's not working"

I will break it down so your mind can wrap around it

#1 Installed AP exhaust with midpipe and CEL came on
#2 Figured **** it and drove it hard and it went away ... great
#3 About 2 weeks later (all before doing bung extension) it came back on
#4 said screw it and drove it into the shop and did the bung extension mod
#5 From that day on for about 2.5-3 months it was great .. no cel
#5 Decided it was too loud and put a cat back in to quiet it down (had nothing to do with a cel ever comming back on)

So yes it does work for some people and not for others ... its a $60 mod at the most if u know how to weld ... worth a try 100%

You obviously know all and are the diamond in the rough. I'm happy you went out of the way to prove me wrong. $60+ welding to get rid of a CEL that doesn't matter is obviously an awesome mod

OP. Take this info with a grain of salt. You might be the lucky #2 that has this work for them after 100's of others on the forum have tried.

Not everyone has $500+ sitting around to put in a cobb access port . So if you want a midpipe but no cel .... and have an extra $60 then try it and if it dosnt work then oh well on the the next . For the record there is a shop down here (Vancouver B.C.) that has done it to about 4 cars and guess what ..... all of them worked it must be the work of god himself !

BUT skip the midpipe ... dyno results show no gain in power over 1-2hp

Take whatever info you want from it
