trouble with OEM spoiler

My gf bought me an OEM spoiler from spoilers4less. I finally went to a body shop today to get an estimate. I'll skip all the details which led me to realize something was wrong, but it turns out there are 6 screw holes on each side of the spoiler - 2 on the outside and 1 extra on each side that are further in on the spoiler along the back edge. WTF? I called a local Mazda dealership that installs them and spoke to a tech - he said there are supposed to be 2 clips there - I don't know what he was talking about, and besides, my kit came with 6 screws, not 4 screws and 2 clips. After searching here, I found that everyone refers to just 4 screws.

Also, there is another partial hole drilled into the underside of the spoiler in a random location - that's got to be a f-up on their part.

Anyone order from these guys before? I am going to call them tomorrow to ask what's going on, so I just wanted to make sure I have a full set of information first.

Thanks!

the small hole is probably where you run the brake light, if it has a brake light. Why not just mount it with the 4 screws?

The OEM spoiler has 6 bolts altogether, 3 on each side. I can't imagine how did the body shop think there are 6 per side.
The Mazdaspeed spoiler is the one that uses 4 bolts only, not the OEM.

Sorry Tamas - I meant to say 3 on each side - that should add up properly with what I stated later (i.e., 2 along the side + 1 further in).

As for the 4 vs. 6, this post seems to suggest 4 , though maybe it's for the MS spoiler as you suggest?

I figured that the extra hole in the middle of the wing might have been intended for brake light wires, but there is no brake light on the OEM spoiler.

Also, the extra holes on each side, the ones that are further in, are at a point on the trunk where there are two layers of metal. Does that necessitate removing the upholstery on the underside of the trunk lid to access the area beneath the screw holes?

I think so - but that shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I just remember people mentioning that they had the OEM spoiler and it was attached with 3 bolts on each side whereas the Mazdaspeed spoiler only has two per side - however it covers the third hole the OEM spoiler leaves.

The spoilers that they(spoilers4less) sell are factory "look-a-like" not OEM so the installation may vary from the original.
