Trailer Hitch

Does anyone have experience with a trailer hitch on their rx8? I am thinking about a trailer hitch bike carrier because the roof rack kills my mpg, makes my sunroof unusable, and I think my bikes take less of a beating behind the car.

I am trying to figure out how much clearence I will loose with the hitch and the visibility of the hitch (is it ugly?). Also, how difficult is it to install?

An alternate solution might be one of those take-apart bikes that small aircraft owners take with them. It would probably fit in your trunk or back seat with ease.

There were some problems with earlier hitches for the RX-8, not sure about any current ones.

Do you have a spoiler? You might be able to get a bike rack that fits on the trunk.

If you get one of these bikes you shouldn't have problems fitting it in your trunk...

I would just find another way to transport your bikes.

I use a Yakama rack on my 8 when I go mountain biking. Put it on when I need it and take it off when I dont. It only takes a few min to put them on / take them off.
