that would be a sexy amount of power for a miata....and it's naturally aspirated as opposed to turbocharging the miata, so reliability ftw! oh oh and you can set the motor farther back in the engine bay soo...lower center of gravity ftw as well

From what I know of, there are only 4 Renesis Miata's in the world. 3 are NCs, 1 is an NB.

There are numerous other rotary Miata's with the RX-7's engine. If you are keeping it N/A though, the Renesis is the superior (power, emissions, and fitment) If you want to turbo it, then there is a decent case for the RX-7's 13b, but fitment is more of a challenge.

Of the chassis, the Renesis is nearly plug and play in the NC, more challenge in the NB, and quite hard in the NA.

I've done quite a bit of work on my plans for the build

Yeah, a turbo'ed Miata is probably more reliable still than a stock Renesis

It was pretty nice. I found it on eBay, but that was many years ago. And I sold the one I had. All I have left is the subwoofer enclosure. Maybe you'll have good luck finding something similar.

You realize you bumped a thread nearly 2 years old? I doubt he will respond to an audio question in a thread comparing cars...

Funny. I sold my Miata to buy my RX-8.

Guess you should have gotten the sunroof!!

I autocross and even modified Miatae suck wind against my stock "family car".

It's never too late to thump a dork.

My stock 99 Miata was faster than my stock RX-8. (In autocross)

My Mazdaspeed Miata is significantly faster than my 8 (anywhere)

99 miata faster than an 8.........now you've gone too far.

The 8 should be faster to 60 than a MSM miata too.

Edited for clarification. 99 was faster in auto-x. 800lbs lighter was far more important than 40% lower power.

My MSM is faster everywhere. It's what happens when the MSM is 600lbs lighter and puts down ~20whp more with the same amount of tire (yes, it's modded). I prefer the 8's throttle response and torque curve, but faster is faster.

Waiting on my FM2 kit to arrive, which will give me another 70whp, a wider power band, and far better response on the throttle. It will be closing in on double the power-to-weight of the 8.

Yeah, 290 is the rough limit on the strength of the engine, I'm staying a bit under that

But it's not like blowing piston engines is something foreign to me. I've got a chunk of money stashed away for a built block. It's a matter of when, not if, in my head.

That's the limit for the average human. With RIWWP, professional engine beater, that limit is more like 220

Well, my N/A piston engines without much power increase have failed easy, so I'm trying to opposite approach and just pushing lots of power through it instead.

I mean really, what could go wrong?

Shortly after purchase:

Last week (dirty, but added larger intercooler and black RPF1s)

I have already paid for a Hydra ECU and complete conversion from the OEM turbo (with it's annoying unique manifold and downpipe flanges) to a GT2560R plus a bunch of cooling upgrades and 15x9 wheels for the track. On the way after that is some more suspension stuff, a lower rear gear, lightweight flywheel with higher capacity clutch, splitter, vented hood, etc... Have the money to pay for stuff in hand, but trying to do things in steps.

I am currently at the green line in mod setup, and I will be moving to somewhere between the blue and yellow lines.
