That Camaro has the 6 litre LS2 engine. 400bhp.

But you can't buy it.

Would you consider the new Aussie built Pontiac G8 (Holden Commodore VZ SS) instead?

362 bhp 6 litre LS V76 engine is similar to the LS2 (which is obsolete and being phased out), but meets stringent EuroIII emissions guidelines.

The hi-po GXP model will have 430 bhp in base form.

heh. There is a strong argument that GM should be selling the GTO as a "Holden Monaro" and the G8 as the "Holden Commodore" to overcome those sorts of opinions ...

That 06 Civic Si may well be a pile of rust before this thread dies..

Hmmm, there's something ominous about the face on that sucker. Wait I got it! It's a cross between this (top half):

And this (bottom half):

Seriously, if you PShopped those 2 pics together... It's uncanny!

But in all earnest, I like it. It'll be a nice change to all the Stangs driving around. Wouldn't trade in my 8 though. I'd miss the nimble balance, smooth shifting, and the high revving rotary. I drove a 2005 C6 Vette 6SP (6.0L V8 LS2 400hp/400 lb.-ft) through Arizona desert roads for 3 days and the torque was thrilling but it lumbered around corners and the gearbox sucked. Hard to describe but it just felt less secure at high speeds and especially around corners and I'm not even talking about a few mini drifts I tried, just hard cornering. Plus the serpentine belt broke on day 3! (car had only 600miles on it, I'm guessing it missed that gentle break-in period and instead got a few rental car drivers thrashing the hell out of it). The Z06 has upgrades to improve all of the cons I mentioned but I'm guessing the Camaro will have a loooot more in common with a base C6 and maybe more since it will no doubt be priced below a Vette. Speaking of which, have they predicted an estimated price range on the new Camaro?

So far this thread should be, what, 5 threads?
1. The logic/financial considerations of trading in an 8 for a Civic SI
2. RX8 vs Civic SI
3. The logic/relevance of non-community bashers
4. Milwaukee vs Canada
5. Various Concept cars we'd consider over our 8s

Did I miss any? I'm new here, does this always happen? I feel guilty I contributed to all 5.

Or, just a throwback to this:

Price will likely be 20-25k for the v6. @ 30k for the Z28.

Do we need five thread killers to get rid of it?

the EVO is an amazing performance car, but it's just flat out ricey and cheap looking. The wing on it looks lame, and it looks like a 4 door cheapy econobox. I know it's not..but the "image" of the car just kills it for me.

I know I'm stereotyping...but when I see an evo...it's usually got a huge exhuast, gauges up the a pillar and the guy driving it has a ring in his nose, baseball cap on backwards. and looks like he's mayb 19....

i know the EVO an dRX8 are both 4 seaters/4 doors..and honestly, an EVO is probably more practical..... but it's lacking something. it's not a sports car. it's an econobox rally car that hauls *** and yes it handles amazing...but it doesn't do it for me.

at 35, i'd feel funny driving one. hard to roll up to your business office in an EVO and NOT look like a punk. the RX8, while in the same price point, and also a performance oriented car, has a totally different look/feel.

Also, the Evo is a *lancer*. In Japan they are too cheap and nasty to even be used as taxis.
