Trade in my RX-8?!

Hey guys, just wanted some opinions on this from people with more knowledge about it then myself.

I've had the car for about 2 years now & I love the car but you know how they say hindsight is always 20/20? I'm thinking maybe I made a mistake buying this car... I could really use something I can drive all year round (I feel bad taking my 8 out in the rain, let alone snow LOL)

So, I'm just wondering, even though I still owe money on the car is it really an option to trade the vehicle in @ this point or is it just going to be too costly in the end? Any ideas/opinions are welcome!

It depends on how much did you pay for the car, how much do owe on your loan, what are you looking to trade it in for, is it a grand touring, touring or sport and when are you going to sell it?
I've noticed Rx-8 prices are a little higher during the spring/summer then during the winter because it snows in most states and people do not want to buy an Rx8 when it's snowing.

Depends on what you plan on getting and the value of the car at the time of trade. Because you still owe money to the car, it technically isn't yours yet, the bank owns it. Chances are you are going to have negative equity and be "upside-down" on the loan if the car you plan on getting is worth more than the current worth of the car.

If you bought it new, you'll take a bath on depreciation. If you bought it used from a private party, and believe that the market more or less equalizes things, it won't be too bad. But only you know your finances and whether you can cover the cost of changing cars. Not the end of the world...nobody steers a perfect course through life and it's only money. No point suffering with a car not suited for your lifestyle.

But since you say you love the car, I go along with Jason. If your reservation is only driving in the rain and snow, just drive it in the rain and snow. Get some appropriate tires and enjoy it year round.

Another option is buying a beater to drive around when you feel the weather is to harsh for your 8. You can get a running car for 1k to 1500 on craigslist, and if your mechanically inclined you can score some great cars on there when theres a simple issue with them but the owner thinks something horrible went wrong.

X2. Look for an inexpensive winter car.
