Totally Nuts Single Rotor Question

OK, getting ready to be flamed.

I want to know if it is possible to produce a single rotor engine for installation in an MCC Smart Car. They currently take a 0.7 Litre engine, but can't produce more than 101BHP.

I reckon a single rotor could fit and hit somewhere around 125+ BHP.

Any comments?

Let the flaming begin!!!!!!

It probably can be done. Expect a lot of work and expenses. It might be much easier to source an existing single rotor rotary from one of the comanies owning a license and "automotive" it.
As always, anything can be done, provided your ready to $$$$$$.

For something the size of a Smart Car, you could probably just get one of those little rotary key chains and hook up some spark plugs and gas to it.

Won't a single rotor rotary design off-set the counterbalancing inherent in the current design?

I get the feeling that mpg is not an issue here, correct? (otherwise, why ask the question.) With the little info that I got from last years DAS the smart engine is not much smaller than the Renesis minus stuff like the ac/alternator/intake... Maybe 25% bigger volumewise, but the dimensions are not the same. I suspect, like a '66 cooper with a v8, you could fit anything in anywhere. But why? I would like to buildout my minivan with a tube frame and drop in a crate hemi with a blower. Could be done.

Single rotor engines exist and are balanced with counterweights. This rotary engines list isn't entirely up-to-date, but it's worth looking at:

This 1.27 hp, 12 ounce, single rotor R/C engine is nifty:

This guy found a broken one cheap and fixed it. His write-up and photos are interesting:
