Total loss - any tips with the Amica insurance processes?

I hydroplaned and totaled my 2007 Sport (39k miles) on the mass pike. Amica insurance appraised it as a total loss and a total loss rep is going to be calling me soon, presumably to talk market value. They then say the car will be towed to a scrap lot. I put in a new transmission (under warranty) and a MS light weight fly-wheel that have 1-2k miles on them.

What kind of value should I expect (fight for)?

Do I negotiate to part out the car or is the rubble theirs?

Any other tips to maximize value?

KBB says $13.8 given my model, miles and excellent condition. Might use that as a base.

Don't accept their first offer, said you believe it worth more.

then prepare the papers to show them that you paid for these and that and it's installed to the car and tell them about it.

they will give u a 2nd offer soon and it's usually up to u if u wanna accept it.

sometimes the 2nd might be the final offer, sometimes the 3rd offer will be final. depends on the company.

That's retail, shoot for that.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The good news is that after receiving their first offer, which was slightly bellow KBB, I sent in my receipts for the transmission, flywheel and clutch and they upped the offer by $2,000. I still felt there was $500 left to be gained but it was the low end of what I was willing to accept without going to a 3rd offer so we kept it there.

The collision was a single vehicle collision (hydroplaned and hit the median). Apparently this might be a 4 point incident on my record. Will check with a lawyer if there's any room to defend against that but it looks like I might be going car-less for the next year or three.
