So my beloved RX8 was rearended by some douchbag kid....

Anyway I'm looking at 2 prospective cars an 05 audi tt with upgraded turbo and some other stuff 300whp really clean like super clean.. 136k miles for 8 grand

Ando prospect 2, is an 09 rx8 r2 45k miles r title he wants 8800.... low miles but an r title .

What you guys think now the rx8 r2 is worth with the r title?

 

Depending on where you are, the value will vary - Myself and my family have been in the car business for years - I can tell you factually that as a general rule, take the KBB value of the vehicle in "good" condition as if it were NOT R titled, subtract about 1,500 from KBB's value and you're right on top of actual market value.

Then, subtract about 30% from that value, and that's about what it's worth with with a R title. Again, this number will vary from state to state (market to market), as well as does the subtraction for R title. Generally it varies between 20-50% of the market value, but 30% is pretty average, and you have to be comfortable with what you're paying and what you're paying for.

As far as the TT goes, they can be *real* electrical nightmares and it IS 10 years old with higher mileage..if it came into our dealership, it'd go straight to wholesale. We wouldn't even take our chances. Not bashing it, just being realistic.

And as far as your original goes...I hurt for you...people just don't pay attention anymore...

 

Either way, you're looking at the possibility (probability?) of dealing with somebody else's crappy work. Also, neither car has a reputation for reliability from the get go.

The value for the '8 will primarily depend on two main questions.
1) What's the compression look like?
2) What's the reason for the rebuilt title?

 

The reason for the r title was a front end collision. Frontbrigjt corner. He isn't opposed to the compression test but he's just a kid in college and can't afford the test.

For expermentation I took 25 % off his asking price of 8800 gave me 6600 and I'd buy it for that without knowing compression. I don't think he's gonna go for it...

Found another rx8 an 04 with 75k miles 6700 they won't get a compression test done and if I wana do it I gotta pay and pay for the salesmans tome to gp witu me... douche bags. Come with a 90 day, 4500 mile warranty tho

 

6,600 sounds reasonable to me. And as far as the other one goes - heck, you have the warranty. Buy it, test it after you buy it and if it fails, let them pay for the new motor... Wouldn't hurt my conscience a bit, especially if they're trying to make you pay for the test and the salesmans time. That's why he's there...

 

I offered him 7grand what I thought was generous he turned it down.

So if the motor falls below specifications they have to replace it? Even if it's not causing drivability issues?

Also looking at a 07 bmw 335 i twin turbo it's more money but a better car and if I get the 9.1k and change that the insurance lady showed me then I think I may do that ha if it's still available

 

Just keep looking, plenty of cars out there. Stay away from the TT. I almost purchased one a few years ago, and after researching I decided no thanks.

Eventually, they told me they wouldn't honor it(because the compression was such that it did need a rebuild and didn't want to spend the money), so they gave me everything($) back.

 

If compression is below allowed specs, they should replace it, especially if it's causing issues with driving.. you need to check and see if this is like the CarMax or AutoNation return policy/warrantyor if it's an included extended warranty and know exactly what's covered and what isn't before moving further.

 

That 335 is a quick little engine, and it has a lot of potential. Id get one of those and pour one out for the RX8.

 

N54 good engine until you get to the cooling system and fuel pump. Get those checked out and expect the cooling system to eventually bite it even if it looks good now.

The 335i is a fine car otherwise and if you're comfortable with how much work goes in to keeping an '8 happy then a BMW should be fine.

There's the bummer it's a pretty penny he wants 13.5 but it's loaded out

I'm going to look at the one 8 and get more info on the warranty also found an 03 wrx too

I really like these rotary engines if I don't get another right away I will inevitably have to get another lol
