took delivery
So i finally took delivery of my Rx8 Shinka in copper red (matchin those gamecocks!) at Wrey Mazda in columbia, SC...i must say im a little let down....
not with the rx8 by any means...well sort of...
upon taking delivery,..i am rather **** about all of my cars...in terms of looking them up and down on the lot before im satisfied and drive off...well..all i have to say is good thing i did...i found a dime size paint chip, rust spot..which to me...looks like it was from an egg possible or a rock? due to the pattern it produced on the roof...first off...this car is brand new....only 20 miles....
secondly, i found on the driver front fender some scratches that looks to me like it was from a lady brushing against is with her purse...or something....this prompted me to check underneath the fender for possible restructuring (to see if it was in a fender bender on the lot or something)..no such evidence...
thidly, there was a scratch on the passenger side door near the handle....
fourthly, my driver side visor wasnt snapped together fully,..and rather than me mess with it...i just added it to me "**** list"
fifthly, my driver side door upon opening it has that..creeking noise which im not sure if it stems from Fresh hinges or loose hinges (anyone have any similar noises?)
so the question i pose to you guys is...what do i do from here? what are my rights as a buyer? they told me they would fix everything completely free of charge....but should i ask for some free perks like accessories? i certainly didnt expect to take delivery of a car which i wouldnt be pleased with....
where to go from here?

I don't know if you drove it off the lot but they should take care of everything. I personally wouldn't have taken it off the lot until I was satisfied. As far as perks? If you don't ask, you don't get. It's worth a try, you know, like free oil changes for a year or something. By all means, nit pick it to death, after all, you are spending plenty, you should get what you expect.

did you even walk around the car when you went to pick it up? or you just took the keys and hopped in and drove away? everything you mentioned should have been brought to the dealers attention before you left the lot.
i wouldn't expect perks because you didn't look at the car first.

There was a time when just about every car had a bunch of things wrong with it - scratches, misaligned bits, rattles, whatever - and part of the ritual of the 1000 mile checkup was to give the service writer a punch list. Quality control is so good these days that new defects are rare. The last three cars my wife and I bought never had to go back for anything like that.
So view this as a nostalgia piece, let the dealer make good on his promise to fix things, and hope the loaner they give you is something interesting.
Then enjoy your 8.

to set the record straight, all of this was noticed before i left the lot....i had the car salesman get the GM and bring her out to go over everything before i left...to which she said they would handle it...i went today (saturday) to get it detailed (not the outside though because i hate how they use a brush)....and the car salesman said they would most likely disassemble the car enough to take off the entire roof panel and repaint it all together....so..the dealer knows about everything..and i certainly have a little leverage with free-schwag because i just placed an order for everything (which they charged me dealer prices for...which isnt that much off...but still....) so im going to see if they can maybe throw in one or two of my ordered products....

If they fix your problems, you should be fine and unless they did something wrong, you're not entitled to anything extra. I have used Wray Mazda's service department and spoken to many of their other staff and find them to be pretty decent. Maybe not the best, but they always took me seriously in the service department. Sadly, it was for my 626, and not an RX-8. Hey man, would you mind bringing the RX over to my house so I can see if it makes it up my driveway with room to spare? I think it will, but I'd hate to find out after I bought one.

Years ago I bought a car with a lot of paint damage. I didn't notice it when I made the deal, but the salesman saw it when they were prepping it for delivery. He wrote (and signed) on the bill of sale that they'd repaint the car and give me a loaner while it was being done. I presume you left the lot with something similar.

A salesman at my dealership showed me a yellow RX-8 that had some bad damage repaired, he said it looked like a large chain swung into it or something. It looked just fine after the body job they did on it.
Somebody in the area is driving around in a yellow RX-8 thinking it had never been damaged.
The salespeople there got real friendly with me during the period I kept coming around while waiting for my pre-ordered RX-8 to finally get there, and for some time afterward. I think I probably helped sell a couple they probably would have given me a sales job there if I had asked. They told me cars get fixed like that all of the time, after taking the long journey from the factory, things happen along the way and they gotta do the fix.
Sometimes they miss the damage if it's small. Mine had a dent in the rounded edging of the front cowling - looked like somebody whapped it hard with a broomstick. Could have been damaged before it got factory painted - the paint was nice looking over the dent. Made the dent easy to overlook. Anyway, the dealership body shop spent a day or two to remove the front panel and fix it correctly, without using filler and using factory paint.
