MA Too Many miles?

Hey im looking to buy this 2004 for rx8 for about $8000 but it has about 125000 miles on it. I was wondering if that was too many for a rx8? If its still gonna run for a while? and if its worth it?

I personally wouldn't buy one beyond the 8 yr/100k mile drivetrain warranty unless you plan it to be a project car.

The pre-09's had a messed-up seal lubrication system that let the centers of the apex seals run dry from time to time. I wouldn't buy any 04-08 that was out of warranty unless the owner said they always premixed oil into the gas.

all depends, if he had his engine replaced/rebuilt not to long ago then not bad, can probably negotiate on the price a little. If its all original then its probably not worth it,

I think you got your answer.
I would look for a 06 and newer.

if hes considering the 8k car, chances are that he does not have the cash for an 06

^ Then maybe it wasn't meant to be.
As we all know the maintenance alone can burn a hole in the pocket.

A safer bet but still risky. I hang around their forum for a bit coz it was what I intended to get at first, their forums have a quite a number of engine failure threads and they have the 100k mileage award thread too.

11k for an 04 with that kind of mileage is too high.

I bought an 05 a year ago with 51k and lots of mods for $12k.

My suggestion is to keep looking. There are lots of good deals out there.

Here's an example:

I would keep looking, I think if you paid just a bit more you'd be able to find a car with half those miles.
