Titanium Grey metallic touch up paint
Anyone else out there with this color of 8 notice that the Mazda titanium touch up paint (code # 66) does not even come close to matching the cars color?? I have had 2 bottles of it and they were BOTH wayyyyyyyyyy too light. More like the silver color 8.

I had a paint job done at the dealer after they hit my car. This was meant ot be a professional job, the paint didnt match the guy never tone matched it. Interesting that the touchup paint doesnt match either.

Insanely Yellow
It's my experience that dark metallic colored touch up paint always is not quite the same color in the first couple of coats - the best way to manage this is to buy a super-fine-pointed paint brush, then before doing the chip, use the corner of some fine sand paper to rough up the edges of the nick. Then start filling it - one layer at a time, one tiny droplet of paint at a time. A chip the size of a pencil lead may take 4 or 5 coats to fill in properly to where it's difficult to see. Note though, you'll never get it to look like the factory paint - it will always be a little bump there.
The LY touchup works quite well, actually.

Your going to think this is ghetto, but what i did for a rock chip on the lip.. was i used a silver sharpie first, then i got the paint and filled it in... i also was comming up light in the paint, so i quickly whipped it off, and got the sharpie that was silver. maked it very carefully, and painted over the sharpie... made it darker.. and i put 2 coats of paint on... ill post some pics so u can see...

Same problem here. First off though, 68 is for Sunlight Silver. That's what I got to touch up the front but it's actually even lighter than the paint on my silver 8. Not sure what Mazda's doing wrong with the touch up paints?!

Stuck in a love triangle
Or you could just live with the scratches since the Titanium paint hides minor blemishes really well...unless they're very noticeable in which case I'd find a used part of whatever is damaged from someone on here who is selling it.

i usuall make it a point to not use touch up paint. Never comes out good.

If the touch-up paints are all showing up too light on the cars...I wonder if the new Galaxy Gray touch up paint would work better on the Titanium gray cars? I also have a Titanium gray in need of a touch up or two. If anyone tries the Galaxy gray on it let us know.
