Tire Question

yo guys I don't know much about tires, just wondering if i can put on those new BFGoodrich g-force T/A KDW 225/45Z18 tires and would it do anything bad considering our stock tires are 225/45R18 91W? I'm gonna buy them in the next day or so, so any help is appreciated.

Good tires but i hear they are a bit noisy. Need some break in as well as they can be a bit greasy in the beginning. If it can save you some money also look at 245/40/18's. It's a more common size and a lot of places give a better price on them & availability is usually better.

Stock tyres are as you said 91W the BFG site states these are 225/45ZR18 and 91Y. The "ZR" rating is overriden (as far as I know) by the speed rating which means they are rates to 186 mph as opposed to the OEM 168 mph. So no, no damage will be done.

Same size, higher speed rating. No worries at all.

That said, I have also heard those are noisy and greasy.

I drove my buddy's '04 GTO with KDW's on all four corners, and my impression was they were squishy and greasy. Could be the car tho. Driving a GTO after an rx8 is like going from a sharp wakizasi blade to a bowie knife; sharp, accurate and easy to wield versus sharp, big, and tough to steer with one hand.

What are some other popular rx8 tire choices? I don't want Kumho's, but I don't want to pay (and then pay again to replace) some Pirellis either. What is Micheliens flagship UHP tire at the moment?

I have Pirelli PZero Nero's on mine - lasted 35K miles so far and they handle great! Highly recommended!
