I bought the OEM kit to add to my base RX8. It came with a shell that goes behind the passenger side which completely blocks the air path to the oil cooler. Those of you that have fogs from the factory, did they install this shell or leave it out?

I'm guessing mine doesn't have a shell of any kind... my oil cooler is not blocked by anything.

 

some automatics only have 1 cooler. (this is for that?)

 

I have the base model as well and added the OEM fog kit to mine. I left the shell out. I think in Europe or some other countries they may have only one oil cooler and the shell is for that application.

 

The pre-06 automatics only had a single oil cooler.

The shell is to fill that space that the 2nd oil cooler takes up on the updated early automatics, manual transmission models, and later automatic models.
