Thinking about trading ... thoughts?

So, I'm currently a Mazda 3 owner and I'm thinking about trading my 3 in for a 2007 RX-8 Grand Touring edition. The mazda dealership down the road has one they said they'd let me have for 25K with 4 miles on it ... been in the showroom the whole time.

I'd like some input from some RX-8 owners to see if you're happy with your rides. I've heard some people say that at 50K miles the engines die ... is that true? Do you think 25 K is a good deal for a new RX-8? What are some common problems that the RX-8's have? What is the good side of owning an 8?

All of them have been answered.

The 50k one is particularly amusing since we have several members with over 100k miles already.

The fact that you have members of this forum that have over 100K on their cars does not mean that a majority of other owners haven't had problems, not all RX-8 owners come to this forum. What it does mean is that either A) they had to have their cars repaired at 50K thereby increasing the life of their car to 100K and beyond, or B) Purchased cars that didn't have any defects in production.

A test drive will tell me if I like the car at that particular moment, but it won't say jack about the long term reliability of the car. If I'm going to spend 25K on a machine, I expect it to be working in 5 years.

And no ... none of them have been answered yet. So far the most useful info I've seen are that first link swoope posted and cquinn saying "Do It".

The only problem you mentioned was engines lasting 50k. Clearly most users would not see that issue. So where you're going with this is beyond me.

What it does mean is that either A) they had to have their cars repaired at 50K thereby increasing the life of their car to 100K
The cars I've seen at 100k are still on their original engines.

If I'm going to spend 25K on a machine, I expect it to be working in 5 years.
So what are you saying? The rest of us don't want or care if the car lasts 5 years?

Perhaps I should be more specific since you're having difficulties understanding simple concepts. This forum contains many posts that have questions and answers. Every single question you've asked, has been answered here repeatedly.

The reason why people get angry at those who don't take the time to help themselves, is that they usually end up throwing a hissy fit when no one takes the time to answer the questions put forth.

Perhaps you should try sitting around here all day and answering idiotic questions like "I hear the engine needs to be replaced every (10,000 miles | 25,000 miles | 30,000 miles | etc)", and see how long you do it before starting to tell them to just search.

btw the fact that some people have 100k miles far out weighs the fact that your know nothing and have not bothered to try..

You know, when I first joined the 3 forums I don't think I ever encountered such jackassary as I have here. I didn't post because I wanted to read stickies and general mumbo jumbo, I wanted personal experience from 8 owners, but I can see all that I'm going to find on this forum is ******* intellitext ads and jackasses who probably don't know very much about their cars.

Peace bitches.

There we go. Right on queue.

The sad thing is, m3marshall doesn't realize he's playing the "noob asking stupid questions then getting pissed off and name calling" role exactly.

If he had searched, he'd see quite a few threads exactly like this Maybe we have the same guy doing it over and over.
