Is there a noob thread!
I just got a rx8, and I was wondering if there was a place where I can read about the doos and donts or something to give me pointers about the rx8.

HAHAHA HIIIYAA! you might be the first person i've ever seen ask that. it's been proposed to make a "Noob" thread or section before, but the ones its truly aimed at wouldnt read it anyway lol.
Like Easy said, stickies in each section, if you get lost after that just ask. If ya dont have a clue shoot me a PM and i'll find ya someone who does(cause i sure as hell dont either!)

Do some searches if you don't believe me, and you will see.
If you mention this too much, you will get seriously blasted!

hey suferpunk, welcome to the 8 club!
I'm sort of glad you asked for a n00b thread instead of doing what a lot of people do and just starting multiple threads asking questions that have been answered a gazillion times.
as for exhuast and intake: those are good starts. they'll change the tone of your car and maybe even give you a few extra HP.
The thing with the RX-8 is that it's very different then it's piston counter parts in that its' tough to free up additional horsepower with basic mods. ON a mustang, intake / exhaust would get you 20 hp. Here, you might get 3-7 hp.
The greddy is a popular choice but do some searches because the greddy's are known to not be very reliable. The snail is just too small to handle what most people demand of it. Look into the Mazdamaniac greddy upgrade.
Performance chips: those are a thing of the past my new friend. They don't work on complicated PCM's such as the RX-8. they're a complete waste of money, regardless of WHAT the ebay seller tries to convince you of. go to www.cobbtuning.com and look into the AccessPORT. (you can buy that from Mazdamaniac as well)

yeah I read some threads about the chips. And they said that they are pointless. As far as exhaust im leaning towards the borla. I dont want it to sound like a ricer and i like how deep the sound is.

It's not rice until you're bolting on a 4' high park bench, adding some underbody neons, and bolting on a muffler from Pep Boys that scrapes along the ground.
