Synthetic to conventional

Today I changed my oil from royal purple i had it running for about 2500 miles and changed it to conventional, I had noticed the car had more pull, I think I will use conv, and change the oil every 2k. Anyone else here doing somthing similar?

No, but hey, Mazda recommends conventional, so that's probably a good idea. The Mazda engineers who developed the Renesis are a pretty smart bunch; I have a feeling they know what type of oil would be best for their baby.

Sure the feeling is not just from changing your oil? I always notice that this(or any) car seems slightly more peppy after an oil change.

5w30 is the OEM oil for this car outside of the US. Only in the USA is 5w20 the oil Mazda says to use. In truth, you would be fine with either. Castrol 5w20 every 2000 miles for me. Havoline conventional is good too.

It's never a good idea to put cheap oil in any car, especially a rotary. These engines are obviously designed to burn oil, so the deposits that the oil leaves behind is relative to it's quality, more or less.

Ive always been told never to switch from synthen to reg. oil. red oil to synthetic is good but not other way around. *worked at a oil change shop for 3 years when i was in highschool and my boss's mentioned that multiple times.. maybe they were smoking crack...

Yeah I'm workin in a garage now and when u use synthetic in any car there is a film created internally in the motor over all the parts....they say once you go to synthetic that u can not ever turn back i'm not sure about this but itdef has sometihng to do with the "film" inside the motor and that the conventional doesn't protect so well after the "film"is created.....that's my knowledge
