Switched To Synthetic

Today i switched to synthetic oil. I've been doing my research and reading since i bought my car in august of 07. I finally decided to just take a plunge. She seems to be running alot better and i felt a noticeable difference. She has more pick up and more speed. So far so good, If anything goes wrong i will just switch back to regular oil but as far as i'm concerned it's working out.

You can feel the difference with synthetic??? You must have a very good butt dyno.

I just changed mine tonight with dino...first one with 2,700 on the clock.

Please, if you just changed the oil the normal way about half of it is still old Dino oil in the car.

Butt dynos are much, much more sensitive than objective data--didn't you know?

Synthetics are known to have less friction than their Dino Cousin.

So he might be able to get better idle. whats wrong with that?

Nothing, of course, but are there any data to support "more pick up and more speed" with synthetics? I actually am a firm believer in butt dynos (and synthetics) but also realize that there's a lot of subjectivity that clouds evaluation ... so I'd like to see some objective data to confirm this if anyone has some.

i had castrol 5w-20 in there, and switched to castrol full synthetic 5w30.

and i'm a she

i just made the thread to let everyone know i took a plunge, i hear good things and i hear bad things...to me i feel a difference, i drive the car everyday people can choose to believe me or they can choose not to. That is their decision. I'm not going to argue my case on here.

It just means rather than dyno your car and prove that you have more power you just feel it in your butt. Decals add a lot of power too!

So you are saying you can feel a minimal power gain because you put in synthetic oil, which the car burns? Interesting.

After reading up on RG's Unified Theory of Renesis Failure, I too took the plunge and switched from Castrol 5W20 dino oil to Royal Purple 10W30 synthetic. I went with a higher weight because I've heard rumors that 5W20 is too thin to keep a 13B-MSP lubricated in warm temps.

Hell, I get that when I move the seat.

Glad it works better, I just got my recall done and that made a noticeable difference, I wonder if the change is similar to yours. It has a deeper sound to it.

A good wax makes less air resistance, so make the 8 much faster than the 350z.

you guys are too funny. making fun of me in an indirect way -_-
i didn't say i noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference. But to ME she feels alot smoother when idling and I feel like she runs alot better with the oil, but it was only the first day it's the long run that you want in a car, not a short term thing. So time will tell if the synthetic is really better for my car.

grimnar13-nope haven't fixed it yet.
you can see the other damage in this pic so not only is it on my hood by my ex friend but i curb checked my car i still need to save around $300 to get the bumper and hood fixed/repainted.
