Sweet, getting the 8 this week!
16 eh. I would say spend $200 on driving school and get to know the limits of your car. Other than that, I would recommend a short shifter, AccessPort, or sways and struts. Have fun, and welcome!
EDIT: Don't worry about the engine failing...The core is covered up to 100k miles and the full warranty lasts until 50k. Make sure you check your oil levels at least once a week and add some if you need to. Also make sure it has all the recalls/TSB's done.

Hey all, I am new here and would like to say, im excited to get my 8. Im 16, and yes I realize most of you think I am a spoiled brat for getting an rx-8 for my first car. I have to pay 50/month and insurance and gas so you can screw off. Anyway, the 8 has 49k miles, 2004, with the GT package. I drove it earlier last week and it runs very well. Any advice on what I should do? The windows are already tinted. How is the bose sound system? Thanks guys/girls! Oh, its a 6spd too.

Don't forget to read the FAQ section in the tech garage and to redline once (by going WOT in a gear) a day to get rid of the carbon!
Congrats on the car. Also, it doesn't exist of you don't post pics of the car in this forum.
The bose system is OK, it is clear and is kinda loud with no raspiness at what volume you are at, but it needs a bit of a Punch to the bass as it doesn't have a subwoofer. I added one and it's pretty damn good now.
Don't listen to Shaunv74 about why getting the 2004 version of the rx-8 either. Many of us have them and they are fine as long as the car is uptodate, via the TSB's and the recalls that you can get from the dealer.
Also, go look into Premixing, if you have any questions just ask me.

Welcome to the forum!
16, huh?
i'd be wary of what you do when driving around w/ friends...its to easy not to think an do something stupid.
anyways. first off, i'd look to replace coils, wires, and sparkplugs...when i got mine used, they weren't replaced, and it makes a whole lot of a difference too!
anyways, enjoy the car!

. They send that oil off
16 which means first time driver...make sure you properly adjust the rear view and side mirrors. If you do not then making lane changes could be more eventful then you would like.
Tone down your attitude. Many of us here have been driving longer than you have been alive. You are not impressing anyone because you are 16 and your parents are subsidizing the rx8 for you.
Be sure to hook up with local rx8 owners at meets and drives. You will learn a lot.
Tires are one the best mods you can do to your car.
When your friends tell you the rx8 is slow and challenge you to a race then just shrug your shoulders and walk away.
Have fun and enjoy the learning process

thanks for all of the replies! I realize it may seem rude or whatever to say screw off, i just didnt want to take flak for being 16. I am responsible enough to know to not drive too fast, or do anything i wouldn't do with my parents in the car. If this says anything, 3 of my closest friends already have gotten there license's suspended and i have had mine longer. Thanks for the welcoming attitudes.
Congrats on the car, My rx-8 was my 1st car too. Like someone else already posted, check on the spark plugs/ignition wires... you'll notice a big difference w/ new ones on the car specially at 49k they should of been replaced by now
yes they can. they WILL void your warranty if they catch you using anything other than 5-w20. When the engine blows they will ask for records of your car maintenance. If you dont have them say goodbye to your warranty

Flak for being rude? Yep.
At lease you have good taste in cars.
I wonder how long the car will last. 50$ a month, so I'm going to assume it's signed under your parents name and they're paying for part of it. Hell I'm paying 400$ a month for mine @ 13.4k (36mo).
Anywho, baby the car and don't forget to redline a day.
