What is the difference between Sport Suspension and Regular suspension and how do I determine which I have? I have been told the car is a GT model but the dealer didn't have a clue. Bought it used from a Subaru dealer. Is there a place I can put in the VIN and determine what I have?

GT = Sport suspension.
try going to www.mazdausa.com and registering under Owners, that might tell you and it'll also give you access to a pdf versoin of your Owner's Manual which might shed some light.

You mention you THINK it's a GT: do you have leather? Bose stereo? (it'll say Bose on the speaker near the front windows), sunroof? fog lights?
if you answered yes to all of those, you have a GT.

 

and to piggyback jedi's comment. if you have the moonroof but not leather, you have a touring (vs. GT - grand touring) but both have the sport suspension.

 

I have leather but will have to look for the Bose, have moon/sun roof, nav system, butt warmers, and probably a few things I haven't found. Love the car so far.

 

if you have a moonroof, you have bose and since you have leather, you have the GT. since you're looking for other things, you also have heated mirrors.

 

Unless you have a shinka...which was 05-06. The "2004 RX8 CS Street Tire" kind of confuses me in your sig.

Anyway...shinka would be another level of suspension but it's more often that a dealer calls a GT a shinka than the other way around.

errrm...edit, just noticed you said Nav system. You couldn't get those in a shinka...unless you bought a used owner modded car.

 

if you have to shift you have a sports suspension.. likely. if you have fog lights you do. leather no doubt.

I've been addicted for quite a while, upgraded from an 87 RX7 that my son and I rescued from a back yard where it had been sitting for 6 years with a busted windhield. We turned that into a fun Prepared card, until my son got too busy to help work on it anymore.

 

Oh, and I did see the Bose when I looked last evening. Also got my new 245/40/18 Potenza RE11's put on last night. Will get to try them out at the autox this weekend. Running in C Stock Street tire class for those confused by the CS Street Tire in my signature.
