Supercharged RX-8?
A couple of months ago, I would have said no. Based on interviews, and Mazda's difficult times with servicing the FD, a pressurizing the rotary would have been the furthest interest from their minds.
However, with the introduction of MazdaSpeed and a pressurized Protege, I wouldn't be surprise a limited MazdaSpeed RX-8 is released in a couple years sporting a supercharger (close to 350hp?). If the handling is as good as expected, the extra oomph would only make sense. Mazda does have a lot of experience with root blowers, such as the factory-fitted Millenia, so bolting a light pressured unit to the rotary could be fairly straight forward.
